I put rear remotes on my L3200 over the weekend. Other than one hiccup with errors in the Kubota instructions (see: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...ng/321801-sos-need-l3200-hydraulics-help.html) the install went fine and looks real good.

I haven't seen any pictures of the factory rear remote kit for the L3200/L3800 so I figured I should post some pictures:

All parts were high quality and everything fit and integrated nicely. The controls are great, replacing the stock lever guide for the 3-point hitch with a slightly wider guide with additional slots. The only downside to the factory kit is the rather high mounting position for the quick-connects, but there really isn't a whole lot of room anywhere else so I can see why they chose this location. I considered flipping the bracket to put the quick-connects down lower to the inside of the ROPS, but there just wasn't enough space. So I just sucked it up and ordered some 6' hoses for my hydraulic top link (that is an A&I TLH01 cylinder which I got for $180 online and painted Kubota orange).

Now I have a couple questions. First, each of the two stacking valves came with a packet of these red spacer/washer objects that look like they were made of mylar, maybe about 0.005"-0.010" thick.

IMG_4760.jpg

There was nothing in any of the instructions regarding what they are for or how to use them. I googled high and low and found nothing. Best I can figure is they might be spacers for assembling the valve stack to minimize any interference issues, but I checked the flatness of the machined faces on the valves and they were flat to within the thickness of these spacers. Anyhow, I did not use them but was curious what they would be for, if anyone knows.

Second question regards the detent valve function. With the Kubota kit, the first valve is always a three-position double acting valve, but you can choose what you want for the 2nd and 3rd positions. I only added the 2nd position, and specified "Double Acting w/Float Detent". The other option would have been "Double Acting w/ Detent, Not Self-Canceling", which to my understanding uses detent for running hydraulic motors and other objects that want a constant flow, and that detent position isn't for use with hydraulic cylinders.

Well, the box for that 2nd valve had the right part number for the float valve, and the instructions had the right part number for the float valve, but I don't think it's a float valve!! When I push it into detent with my hydraulic top link attached, I can hear the engine labor, just like if I held any of the hydraulic levers on the tractor open to the point of resistance. So I suspect Kubota accidentally shipped the "Double Acting w/ Detent, Not Self-Canceling" valve inside the box for the float valve. Does that behavior/description make sense? Otherwise, if it is a float valve, perhaps it's either defective or needs adjustment?? The other three positions of the valve work smoothly as expected, and the first valve also works as expected. All other hydraulics on the tractor work fine, and there are no leaks, etc.

I bought from Messicks, so I'll contact Neil at some point, but if it sounds like a case of shipping the wrong valve, I'll just ask for a credit for the price difference and live with it for now. No way in heck am I going to dis-assemble the whole rig at this point unless there's a real problem.

Looks like a real clean install. Wish I had one!

It looks great what does that kit cost?

I was just thinking about adding rear remotes to my tractor.
Did you get the kit from the dealer? How much if you don't mind me asking?

It was about $1300 for the kit, which has three parts: 1) basic kit with first valve, hoses, hardware, etc, 2) second position add-on kit, 3) float valve for second position. The part numbers (in that order) were L7334, L7364, and L7354. You could also add on a third position kit and valve as well.

Nice install. I hadn't actually seen an OEM install on a L3x00. Cleaner than I was expecting.

You are 100% right on the location for the QCs. I'm about to replace the hoses between the QCs & my TnT cylinders because they are chewed up from catching on the quick hitch. There is just so much motion in so many different directions to deal with if you put the QCs down low. Looks better, but not quite as functional.

My custom install...

Well, I determined why the 2nd position float-detent valve wasn't working properly -- the hose routing layout given in the instructions blocks the full range of motion of any levers in 2nd/3rd slots, thus preventing the lever from going completely into detent. I was able to loosen up the o-ring boss fittings on top of the valves and spread the hoses to allow the lever to move all the way. Now the valve works properly.

So that's the third or fourth major gaffe in the instructions. When I have some time, I will scan all the erroneous steps and post them here with corrections. Maybe it will help someone in the future. Would be great to communicate back to Kubota as well.

Awesome info! I didn't know there was an OEM kit either. I saved the P/N's in case I decide to add these to my L3800

has anyone compared the OEM to the FitRite rear remote?

I wasn't aware of the OEM kit when I built mine, so I never compared.

I have a joystick (forward/back & side to side) for 2 of my spools & love that layout. Both have float too (although I can't float both at once due to the joystick). The Butcher (sp?) Valve is really high quality & I measure leak down in inches per day. No need for pilot valves (that prevent float) on my machine. Hear lots of people complain about leak down on cheaper valves. No clue the leakage or quality on the Kubota kit.
