L3400 HST Question

   / L3400 HST Question #11
Hey Fortyseven2n.... Just noticed you were from NC! Don't know how far you are from Sinks Farm Equipment in Lexington but two days ago I saw a L3400 with LoaderQ/A bucket foldable ROPS and R4's for $19,900.00 on the sticker.
Just thought I would let you know!

WOW!!!
I paid $16K for mine in 2008...

Charlie,
Well that is a tough one...
check out the inclinometer on the store here....

BUT the pucker factor is the tell tell.

some things I would not do, I have seen my neighbor do..
It is about experience to a degree and about balance and counterbalance..

I am sure those with more experience will provide more....

Yes, you're right. I will pose my question another way.

My land has 2 levels, 25' difference in elevation. I need to cut a trail so I can access either level. My L3400 will normally be well ballasted. I would like the track to be as short as possible but not restrictive. How much horizontal distance should this road for this 25'
drop?

Charlie,
that makes it alot easier...

here is a guide I found some time ago..
Think not only of the tractor but a car/truck also.. But use care to make it only wide enough for your use, too wide means you are wasting time/money/effort/materials.

If it the property is terraced, then you will have to RAMP it somewhere..
This might be easier with an excavator, but pictures would help...

YES SIR!! Just this weekend we were cleaning up some branches from pruning and the ground was a little soft, going down an incline I was in two wheel and as I let off of the HST pedal to slow down the wheels stopped and the sod broke loose and I was sliding like on ice leaving two skid marks in the lawn and one in my pants!:D Thankful that it was a short slide! Therefore, I can attest that the L3400 HST does not free wheel going down hill when you let off of the pedal!
Been tractoring for 30 some years and still learning! Hope this helps.
I've done this (one time) on wet grass and I was in 4wd. Only one time which was enough for me.

I am in the Seagrove/Asheboro area so about 45 -60 min from Sink.

They have a nice dealership and very nice staff.I test drove the same tractor last Saturday.

I also drove one at Callicut's in Franklinville.

I did not share pricing between the dealers but they wound up within less than $3.00 of each other after it was all said and done.

After a great deal of consideration, I decided to buy mine from Callicut since they are about a 15-20 minute drive from work so its closer to pick up fluids and filters.

If the distance had been equal, I would have to flip a coin to chose as they both impressed me a great deal.

I don't think anyone would go wrong with either one.

Going to go sign the papers tomorrow.

Thanks to all for all of the responses.
