Here it is! I was torn between the DT and the HST. I think I would have been happy with either one, but I really enjoy the HST.

Congrats Emmy, great looking rig. Are you going to get a bigger tractor when you get older?:D :D

Congrats to Emmy and Cedarweed both. What a neat tractor. Big enough for hard work, small enough to get anywhere. If we didn't need to move round hay bales, it's probably what we'd have too.

Bigballer,
I apologize for taking almost a month to respond. Been so busy at work with deadlines I have only put 4 hours on the 3400. I now that is a disgrace, but I will try to do better. Hey, more money for implements!! The tooth bar is an Allied. The dealer says he buys them locally here in NC.

The L3400 is a powerhouse for its size. I spent over a year deciding on what to buy. Looked at green and blue and kept coming back to orange. I just wish I had bought it sooner. I have come to a conclusion on the HST. My dealer gave me the keys to a DT and a HST and told me to have fun. I drove the DT first. Great tractor especially with the shuttle. Would have been happy with it. Then I drove the HST. That is the only way to drive a tractor. I don't think too much about the HST while mowing, but using the loader is a breeze. Borrowed a 5' rotary cutter from a neighbor and cleared some pretty heavy brush. The 3400 didn't miss a beat. I am going to pick up a new Land Pride rotary cutter sometime in the next couple weeks from my dealer.

Emmy where in NC are you ? I think you are close by, who is your dealer. I just visited York County Kubota since they are close to me but I am almost ready for the same model. What did it run you and are you happy with the dealer ?

Total price was $17,375 for tractor, FEL, filled R4's, and delivery. Price does not include sales tax. I could have probably found a cheaper price, but this dealer is close and I feel he will give me the best service. I always look for value and not just the cheapest. Tractor is great. Plenty of power. The R4's lack traction in mud, so 4WD and the differential lock come in handy. Also clearance with the R4's and the 3PH is tight with rotary cutter. Have to keep the check chains tight or the turn buckles will rub the tires. I have a 5' rotary cutter and have no problems operating it. As far as digging goes, I personally have not used the loader for digging but my dad has and it worked for him. In the past, I had only used manual transmissions and was prepared to purchase the DT. The shuttle shift seemed to work well on the one I test drove. That would have been a great tractor for my needs. However, I am glad I went with the HST. It makes FEL work easier and faster. Even mowing is easier for things like backing into a tight spot or squaring up corners. I also think it is safer for inexperienced operators. I now opinions differ on this, just my thoughts. I ordered a canopy for it today and look forward to the shade.

Bottom line, many posts on this sight concern getting the right size tractor for your needs. Sometimes I wish I had a larger tractor and sometimes I would like to have a smaller one, so I guess I got the right size. If traction is going to be an issue, go with the R1's. The R4's work well for me but they are lacking in ground engagement work. Also, the tractor with FEL, loaded tires, and most implements weighs in at around 5000 lbs which is towable behind some 1/2 ton trucks.

weiser,
I just sold my b7510hst with FEL.
i am done with the smaller projects that required the loader. my new tractor has no loader at this time. not sure if i will add one or not. the new machine is a gear model. i don't think i will like it for fel work as much as my previous machine.
this year all i need it for is cutting and tilling for wildlife food plots. this machine will be perfect.

i got a:
2006 L3400DT-F with R1's (69 hours)
woods gt60 tiller
fred cain argi cutter 5ft brush cutter (seems very stout and well made)
16ft tandem axle trailer with brakes
kubota front weight bracket
three kubota suitcase weights

everything was new in march 06. i paid $10k.

i have the original bill of sale, spoke to the selling dealer and have confirmed kubota has no lien on the tractor.

DVR,
That is a great deal. Doing a little rough math, it looks like you got about $18,000 worth of equipment for $10,000. That's a pretty good investment.
