L3400 Starting Problems

Has anyone experienced a problem with their L3400 HST not starting after operating it? Several times, after stopping the tractor to change an implement or move something, it wouldn't start. I've had to jiggle the wires to the PTO switch and the seat switch to get it started.

Today, after moving the tractor, no amount of wire and switch jiggling would get it restarted.

The HST pedal is not centered for the switch to make connection.

Just move the pedal very slowly up or down to find the sweet spot.

Mine did it when it was new, they seem to need to break in I guess since mine hasn't done it for @ 2.5 yrs now.

Yep, I agree with wushaw that it is probably the HST Pedal. Mine didn't do it until I had 100 plus hours and just a slight wiggle of the pedal will usually do the trick. It may be one of the other switched but this is the most common.

Update: The dealer sent a technician out to look at it. He tested all of the safety switches and they were OK. He then hotwired it (I think) and it started.

Technician's opinion is maybe a bad wiring harness or possibly a bad ignition switch.

Dealer will pick it up tomorrow and track down the problem.

I'm not going to need it for a few days so am happy to let dealer have a look see.
