L3400 suspension seat and sore back

/ L3400 suspension seat and sore back #11
My L3400 seems to have a suspension seat but it does not move at all. I have tried prying under it, I have tried jumping up and down on the frame, it doesn't move the slightest. I have loosened the tension knob all the way.. no movement.. Is there a trick to this??

The trick is to remove the OEM seat and replace it with an air ride seat. OEM Kubota mechanical suspension seats just plain SUCK.

On my M59, not only does it lack suspension, but the engineers decided to tilt the slippery seat sloping forwards so I'm ALWAYS sliding off the seat on the back jarring bumps. That and they only gave it 3/4 inches of suspension travel so it's quick to bottom out.

Considering the amount of money they charge for these tractors I'd wish they'd offer a better seat option the way Deere does.

Also took the seat off my L2800 and lube the check out of it,might want to also lube seat belt buckle.

I have the air ride option on my L4060HSTC. It's nice, but a $1k option. I have a bad back, so I think it was a worthwhile upgrade for me.

The air ride seat has the seat presence sensor & stalls if you hit the go pedal or PTO if there is nobody in the seat. There is no option to flip the seat up though. Your only option is something heavy in the seat if you want to run a chipper or generator.

Well I took the seat off and sprayed all the points with penetrating oil today.. Pried under the frame with a 3ft pry bar, jumped on it.. This is not budging a bit.. Will try again tomorrow. It doesn't even look rusty...

It does have the two horizontal springs (not the little vertical seat springs) but the two large horizontal down in the frame? Because I think all of the L3700 and maybe some of the 3400's didn't include a sprung seat at all. Yeah how stupid and cost cutting was that? And as far as I know not a one of the L3400's and L2800 worked upon delivery and they all have this "frozen" problem. But usually lots of lube and stomping up and down (with a fat guy) will free them up. Maybe you are not fat? :)

Yes it does have the 2 big springs and also the T handle adjuster in the back. I just watched a Youtube video where a guy had to do extensive work to free his, involving torches, welder, hydraulic press, lathe, drill! Crazy...
I am working on being fatter, but need the seat fixed sooner than that! Kubota seat repair part1 - YouTube

I have no idea what the mechanics are on the seat of a L3400 are. But the suspension difference between my old L4200 and my new L5060 is like night and day. Although it is not an air ride seat on my L5060 the spring tension can be adjusted for the weight of the operator by turning a little lever on the front of the seat, makes for a very comfortable ride.

Ok guys, after some more jumping and prying I got it so it would pry up, jump down and stick, pry up, jump down and stick... more spray, repeat that a dozen times and it was bouncing.. It only moves about 1" maybe.. seems ok when jumping on it like a trampoline.. Put the seat back on it, hard to bounce it while sitting but will see how it is when I drive the tractor! thanks

Mine wasn’t as bad as Dave’s, more like jeffinma's. Don’t forget you do have some adjustment. I think I will go give mine another shot of oil.
