We have finally narrowed the choices down! Our dealer has offered us a L3400 for $16,290 (8 forward, 4 reverse)and the Grand L3130 (8 forward gears, 8 reverse) for "a special deal "of $16,686. We have decided, whichever machine, to order the BH80XT and the Salsco 627 chipper. We currently have two 3 acre sloped properties needing some earth moved stumps pulled and general landscaping chores performed. Then, there's a retirement piece that eventually will need a real road made from an exising logging road, fortunately it comes with it's own gravel pit and we have the luxury of time to do the upgrades. One of the largest deciding factors is we prefer the "simpleness" and classic look of the L3400, and wonder if, for the money, the Grand L3130 would be worth it. Any and all input would be appreciated. Thanx

You don't mention what loader you're considering on the L3130. The LA723 makes the L3130 worthwhile with its superior lift, reach and curl angle.

The loaders in question for the L3400 and L3130 are LA 463 and LA 513 respectively. I also failed to mention that each transmission was DT. Thanx again!

For me, there would be no choice. All the 3400 has more to offer is 2hp. The 3130 is better all around, in lift, comfort, shuttle trans and extendable links, for a few hundred more? Go with the 3130, you won't be sorry. My .02, mp

What is BH80XT and how much does it cost? How much was the Salsco 627 chipper? I am also considering L3400 w/ FEL (LA 463) and backhoe (BH75). Thanks
