Tractor
Kubota L3400 HST
Hello. First post here. Been looking for a tractor in the 30 hp range for about 6 months. Looked at and operated JD's, NH's, and Kubota's. I have been leaning toward the 3400 because of the power in a small size. Got about 8 acres to maintain mostly mowing so I have decided to go with a gear drive. Getting the FEL because dad is getting too old to push around a wheel barrow. Local dealer has quoted me a price of $14,800 (before taxes) for tractor and FEL. Sounds like a good price from what I have been reading on this forum. Opinions please.

Thanks,
Terry

Sounds like a good price to me. I've got the L4400, which is very similar to the gear drive 3400. I think both are great tractors and the gear drive models are an exceptional value. They both pack a lot of HP in a small, affordable package.

Great Machine...have just over 50 hrs on mine now and couldn't be more pleased with the power, performance, and overall engineering.

I'd suggest getting some rear ballast for the 3pth right away. Hooks on the bucket would be nice, too. A toothbar is a wonderful thing for aggressive digging. Bolt-on forks are indispensible. I'm sure there are 1000's you could spend on major attachments; I just mention these as I consider them modifications of the machine per se, and not really attachments like a mower, etc.

Also compare it to a grand series. I have a L3130 with a l723 loader. Loader has a little more height and lifting capacities. Both are great tractors good luck in your decision. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hehe. I had the same purchase in mind and took your advice. Looks like there might be a 3130 in my future instead of a 3400.

I think you'd like the hydro better for both mowing and FEL work. You could always add cruise control if you have long stretches of lawn to mow. My current machine is the first hydro I've ever had, and didn't want it initially, but it didn't take long for me to realize how much I love the hydro. I will definitely get hydro again when I upgrade to a larger compact, which may be as soon as this spring.
