Comparison L3400HST Versus JD 3320 - help!!

New to the forum - sorry if this is a repeat - I have been shopping for a tractor and have ruled out the Sub compacts like the B3200 Kobuta and the JD 2720 - So I am raising the bar and have two dealers quoting and L3400 versus JD3320 -
I think both tractors are built well enough for my uses, but the primary use will be snow blowing a 1/2" mile gravel road that is on a hill.
JD 3320 has a 59" blower front blower and the Kubota dealer is quoting me a Erskine 60" rear PTO powered front snow blower.
Any and all opinions, "what I would do" (forget the rear snow blower:confused2 are welcome.
Both are getting real aggresive on the pricing and finance terms :thumbsup:-

What I would do (assuming money isn't a barrier) is buy the 3320 with the front blower, heated cab, 3pt back blade (for ballast weight and snow pushing), and also a good set of chains for all 4 wheels to get you up the hill when it turns to ice. With 1/2 mile of lane to clear, you are going to need a serious snow machine.

1/2 mile driveway is a long one on a cold day and there's a lot of snow to blow. It can be done without a cab but you are going to have to be wrapped up and lenjoy blowing snow. I don't know where you are located so cannot even guess how often you would be doing this or how much snow you get. I used to have a 1/4 mile drive and did it without a cab, never had a problem and I like to be outside so the cold never got to me and I live in a fairly heavy snow area. If you are in a heavy snow region, I would consider a cab IF that's your primary task with that long of a driveway. It's a lot of extra money but may be worth it.

Those are pretty costly snow blowers. Maybe a (used) 4WD pickup and a Myers plow?

I think you need to compare the L3240 Kubota to the JD 3320.
1.JD with cab only avaible with front snow blower
2.L3400 not available with cab or sub-frame for front blower
3.Erskine is top on the line rear blower(very pricey +$6,000 or so)
4.L3240 can be had with cab and sub-frame for front blower

Big debate over front or rear blowers and cab or not;your choice.I would not want to run a blower with-out a cab myself.I use a cab and a front plow.

Do a build your own on the Kubota and Deere sites...hopefully less 15% then compare.

Where are you located and how much snowfall do you get???

Because unless you get several feet of snow at a time, a truck and plow is going to be WAY quicker. And a decient used setup will cost less than what just the blower add-on will cost you. So you can still buy a tractor if you have other tasks to do with it, just without the blower.

If the blower is a must for where you live, I would agree that you sould get a cab.:thumbsup:

Out of the two tractors mentioned, I think the 3320 would be your best bet...:thumbsup:

Thanks All - Live at the base of Mt Shasta in Northern California - I have a 1978 Dodge Power wagon with a 440 and 7' Meyers- chains on all four wheels - four wheel lock low -
The problem is that there is no where to but the snow after plowing for a couple of weeks - Road looks like a bobsled run - Been fighting it for about 4 years - Son got stuck for 7.5 hours this year on the road waiting for a tractor to come dig it out - So I'm buying a tractor and just blow the snow off the road to start.
JD 3320 59" snow blower - anybody know if this blower has a lift kit?

your going to want to look at a few prices on these before going further. The deere config is more tractor, however its probably going to be 7-8k more expensive than an L3400 w/ 3pt blower. Backing up for a half mile will be a literal pain in the neck. You probably need a setup more like is being quoted on the Deere. The 3320 falls between most Kubota models. There is not a good apples to apples comparison. The L3240 is a bit larger tractor, but really better suited to what your doing.
