I was ready to jump on that deal untill I started looking at the L3240. Now I dont know what I'm going to do. Kubota just has too many to choose from.

Yeah, I looked hard at the L3240 too but decided I wanted that lil extra HP at the PTO. That and the dealer quote on the 3240 was 19K+
The L3400 is a good basic tractor and will do me fine. And I didn't really need the nice little bells and whistles the 3240 came with ( I keep tellin myself that...)

I also looked hard at the L3240. In fact, that is the tractor I wanted. But...I needed to be able to drive through my barn without lowering the ROPS and fit through my existing gates.

The L3400 HST fits everywhere I needed to be able to use it or drive it.

I bought the tractor just after Thanksgiving and have used it mostly for snow removal and have just used the back-hoe to pop up ice. It will be a few months before I will remove the back-hoe and use 3 point attachments.

I only have 45 hours on my tractor but am very pleased and don't feel like I had to 'settle' for the 3400. It just happens that it works very well for where I needed to use it.

Jimmy, welcome to Canadian pricing :)

I talked to a Kubota dealer in December though who quoted me a price for a L3540 which sounded like they were adjusting prices downward to compete with the cross border shopping.

I've pondered getting a tractor with a Cab and so talked to them about trading in my L3400 for a cabbed L3540. The price on the L3540 was decent enough for me to move but what the offerred on my L3400 with only 82 hours was an insult. Didn't feel like trying to sell privately so I just figured I would hang on to it for a few more years and dream about a cab later on :)

If dealers are starting to lower the prices of new Kubota's I am sure that used Kubota's would have to drop by an equal percentage.

No question. The quote on the trade that I got was still ridiculously low given this.

The other thing to bear in mind is that there is an adjustment period between new prices dropping and used prices following suit because a LOT of purchasers of used equipment don't even consider new. A lot of stuff tends to sell just by advertising on the driveway. I know a LOT of people that don't consider new anything because they are absolutely convinced that they will get a much better deal on used. So much that they don't even bother checking!

That said, from further chatting with Jimmy, the quotes he got from nearby dealers did not suggest that prices were dropping much at all.

If one had a good reason to get a bigger / better / nicer tractor, there is an arbitrage opportunity to sell their existing tractor locally and purchase a new one from either a Kubota Canada dealer (if the prices have indeed started coming down) or from the USA (if someone will sell you a new one).

Sounds like your pricing feedback is in the ball park. Good luck with your buy.

As for me, I have decided to wait to see if the pricing does change in Canada. So far, nada on used or new.
