Heh Guys;

I'm new to forum. I have a problem with my tractor. Had trans re-built by dealer. My PTO will not engage when clutch pushed down. If I stop engine, engage the low PTO, start tractor PTO will kick back out. When I stop motor, engage high PTO, implement will run, but will not stop when I push clutch pedal. Any ideas ???
Thank You: confused:

Sounds like the travel clutch is worn, and the clutch pedal & pto shift linkages are out of adjustment.

These tractors have a 2-disk clutch, one for travel, one for the pto. As the travel clutch wears, the pedal linkage has to be adjusted so it doesn't slip. But if the linkage is adjusted too far, the pto clutch is affected - it gets so it doesn't release.

Just as you describe, engaging the pto before starting the tractor, it keeps running even when the pedal is pushed down. If the tractor is running first, the pto can't be engaged without grinding.

On this model the two clutch disks cannot be separately adjusted. The linkage "sweet spot" is in the middle where both clutches work as they should. If the travel clutch is too worn, the only real answer is to replace it.

The pto kicking out of gear could be shift linkage not moving far enough - or could be damaged gears. The dealer that worked on it needs to start by adjusting the linkages. If they missed a worn-out travel clutch or damaged pto gears, you should not be charged for splitting the tractor again.

Good luck - Dick B

Could it be a missing or broken part in the clutch? I had a similar problem with my L275 DT with the same type clutch.

I was spreading loam on a slope. I would pull some loan up the slope with the rear blade, raise the blade, push in the clutch to coast back into the loam, lower the blade, release the clutch, and repeat the process. Then, while slowly coasting back with the clutch in, the tractor started moving back up the slope. Something had broken inside that kept the clutch always engaged.

I was able to control the tractor by keeping it in low range and shifting without the clutch. That allowed me to load it on the dealer's trailer. They installed a new clutch (at 1800 hours). I am not sure what was wrong but it seemed obvious something had let go inside.

I did not check to see if the pto worked correctly.

Thanks
rbargeron & KCO. I put new clutches, & throw out bearings in when trans was done. So I hope the adjustments will do.
THANK YOU
