L35 with bt900 backoe and box scraper + grader blade
Wow its been almost 4 years since Ive posted on this board but Im back once again. I seem to be having problems with my L35. The transmission is not shifting during selecting gears or when trying to move forwards or backwards. The hydraullic level is fine and the loader and backhoe hydraullics work perfectly. It only has about 650 hours on it but the bloody thing will not move. If I shut it off and try to put it in gear again, sometimes it will move but I decided to try theis board before I go and spend mountains of money on tranny work. Thanks Again /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

How much clutch pedal free play do you have, should be about 1 inch.
Put the shuttle in fwd or reverse and select a gear, does the power steering seem harder than when every thing is in neutral? Does the steering seem harder at all in any mode?

Ben,

It's only been one year since you posted a similar problem. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

kubmech tried to help you then, also, without much feedback from you.

My mistake on not knowing how long it has been since I have been here..it feels like a lot longer than a year. First off I thought I had this problem fixed however it has seemed to resurface. The power steering is fine in whichever gear whether it be neutral or 8th. I just tried to start her up today and I get that same squeaking noise and then it goes forward. Then I took it out of gear and tried to put it in reverse and nothing...

Thank you Kubmech for helping out...You did try to help me before as you thoguht it was the clutch packs were not disengaging properly. I brought it to the shop and it worked great for a while but the problem is back /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif What steps do you think I should take to get it working again and how much would something like this usually cost saying it is the clutch pack. My guess is they are going to have to get to the transmission anyways because something surely isnt right. Does the L35 need to be pulled into two pieces like the B20? I had that done to the B20 I used to have because a bolt had gotten loose in the transmission. They had to weld it back together /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Dont know if this is how it is done on the L35 but I sure hope not...

The squeeking noise is probably the hyd clutch pack engaging which is a normal noise. Judging by that and the fact that the steering seems fine I would look in to the main clutch. There is a plug in the bottom of the bell housing. Remove the plug (just aft of where the front driveshaft is) see if there is a build up of clutch material or if it smells burnt in there.

I also talked to a local dealership and they too believed it was the clutch pack that needed replacing. Once again Kubmech right on! completely amazing since all you could work on was my description. Anyways they gave me a price of around 2000 to fix....Does this sound reasonable or should I be looking elsewhere?
