L3560 vs L4060 from L3200

I agree. I was a die-hard gear transmission with the intentions of buying GST... One test drive of the HST+ and I was hooked. Best decision I made on the purchase.

I went from a B3200TLB to a L3540 Grand L and and before that I had BX23TLB, liked them all but the L3540 is a keeper. It does everything I need to do, powerful but not cumbersome, runs a 7 foot finish mower,7 foot York rake, LA2674 3 point snow blower, HD 48" pallet forks and a HLA2000, 84" front snow plow with ease. Do yourself a favor get the HD 72" bucket with bolt on cutting edge you won't be sorry, oh the HST Plus with stall guard is the bomb, many choices for different speeds on the fly.

I went from a L3400 to a MX5100. So cannot really comment on the deluxe features or HST+. But can say, that initial intimidation of how large they are, fades quickly. They seem to get small in no time

You know, after sitting on the 4060 and running it, I felt pretty comfortable from the driver's seat. But looking at the tractor from the ground I really have the gut feel it would be too big for most of my uses. I guess I need to think about that more.

They had an MX parked next to the 4060, and it looked almost identical in size except the tires were noticeably wider (especially the fronts). So it had more of "hulk" appearance.

The MX and larger Grand Ls share the same engine block and chassis, I believe, although Kubota obfuscates the issue.

MXs with 2-WD have adjustable front wheel width. You lose front adjustment with 4-WD.

Thinking is OK. Doing some measuring would aid making an objective decision.

I made the transition from the L3800 to the MX5200. I did test drive both the L4060 and L3560. I do need the maneuverability through the 10 acres of woods that I maintain on my property and in the process of clearing the dead ash. I have noticed a small degradation in maneuverability, mainly in and out of my shed, but boy the increase in loader and PTO HP far out weighs the maneuverability issue. I use a grapple and stump grinder quite often and have noticed considerable ease of use compared to using the same implements on the L3800. The MX5200 was initially a little intimidating as far as size, but quickly diminished after a few hours of use. The MX is real beast for the size in my opinion.

What is your altitude in Virginia?

Where I am, almost sea level -- 40-80 feet. I sometimes tractor out at family member's mountain property ~ 4000', but that's still plenty low in terms of air density and engine power.

My MX has the rear tires at the narrowest position most of the year for veggie growing. It's not a tiny tractor, but I find it very nimble. I can squeeze that thing just about anywhere.

If the price difference is small, I'd sure be liking the 4060. The extra weight will really be nice.
