If you want to lose the least amount of money in your trade up to a new tractor, you are much better off selling it outright as a private sale. It might take a bit longer to sell and is a little more inconvenient than trading it in, but it's no secret that dealers aren't going to give you what it's worth, they have to make money on it when they sell it. Your better off being the one that makes the money on it.

I disagree, there's nothing wrong with LS. There are very few bad tractors these days. LS is a division of another small Korean company called LG. That doesn't guaranty they'll be around forever, but they do have an impressive and very capable global mega conglomerate parent company.

I do agree, but his dealer offered him 3500 less than he paid. Most people are going to want to pay less than new price, for a used tractor. How much less will depend. I'd want to save at least 3k, but 4-5k would be where I'd want to be.

Caseman, my dealer had a L3800DT w/FEL on the lot 5 months ago, with 14 hours on it. Asking price was 15.5K.

I got it for 16K, with 5' Land Pride mower, delivered...

I posted this early in this thread. I saved around 3.5K over new.

LS maybe a fine tractor, but I don't think they are equal to the NHs built by Shibaura. The fit and finish just isn't as good.

If I wanted a LS tractor I would just buy it from LS. I don't think LS is going to go out of business, but I do think that the arrangement with NH is going to end. There are some differences between LS and NH/ LS I am told. Ten years from now if NH drops LS it may be harder to get certain parts than it would for a LS branded tractor, that was purchased today.
I was told by a LS dealer that the apples/ apples LS tractor is less expensive than LS/NH. So why buy a NH/LS unless there are no LS dealers near you?

I may be wrong, and if I am proven wrong, I deny any of my previous statements.

Maybe Caseman will offer 0% financing.
If he doesn't, and the buyier needs financing, he would be better off buying new. This was pointed out in post #54.
