Hello,

My Kubota L3830 is leaking oil from the front right axle hub. I lifted tractor with loader and front wheel appears to have some play. I'm assuming bad wheel bearing.

Has anyone had similar problems? My tractor has around 720 hours and is a 2004 model. It does quite a lot of loader work.

I'm considering replacing bearings myself. Any tips or pointers? Is it a DIY project?

Thanks for the help

I have done a few Kubota and deeres common problem of front seals leaking easy as long as you have basic mechanical skill and tools. the outer seal is super easy the one where the spindle turns is a little harder, if you have to do that one change the bottom plug don't try to reuse, its cheap, the seals aren't.

I went through the front end on our old L3750/ Not too hard, just standard mechanic work.

What killed mine, was too much FEL work without enough weight on the 3 pt hitch.

Thanks for the responses guys. Yeah I used to run without much ballast. I made a 3 point ballast hitch awhile back. So that should help some. I still feel the Kubota front end is a bit weak compared to their larger tractors.

But I can't complain! Lol

With all the tractors that we work on we have not seen any trends of one being any weaker then the other with normal use. We do notice differences in longevity as to the type of use and how tractors are ballasted. We do like three point hitch ballast the best realizing that it can't always be used but it does save a lot of wear on the front end over just loading tires. For some we like to see both if possible but the three point is the best.

There's some guidance here on changing front axle seals. Many models have very similar construction. If oil has been leaking out, there's a possibility water has been leaking in, which can lead to bearing failure.
