Congratulations, glad everyone is enjoying it so much! It's a nice piece of equipment. I think you'll be glad you went with the 3830 power. Got to admit the 3130 is a little low on torque when loaded down with the hoe and pulling any grade. My driveway is low range and throttle to the wall only on the accent (steep).

You have an hour on me for tractor time but I may have a few minutes more seat time as the wife has no desire. Works for me. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I wouldn't concern myself too much on the treadle. IMHO it's inferior to the two pedal design, but it gets a lot more press than it deserves. The treadle is still quite workable with heel on deck as others said. How many times have you inadvertently jumped the tractor forward while trying to set the brake? Unless you have size 7 shoes I think I know that answer. I guess we'll learn to rotate the foot or use the heel when setting the brake. Says something in that the unintended luge (operator error actually) is the only thing I can actually describe as a concern on this machine. Soon enough even this will all be second nature though.

Jury is out for another couple of years but the very early results are.....I'd rate my machine as excellent overall, just a wee short on umph /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif You're not gonna have to worry bout that.

Sweet!

Enjoy,

That is the same thing i thought, i tried the side by side with heavy cold weather boots on, and liked the rocker type better, this is just my personal preference, not to say one is etter than the other.

Have you ever seen anyone on this forum (or any other forum) that said "My tractor has a little too MUCH horsepower"?

That would be considered heresy. If we admitted we had enough HP then our wives might find out and when we wanted another (read: bigger) tractor she might balk and remind us that we already said we have enough horsepower.

Keep up the good work. When you go in the house in the evening say "Gee Honey, I would have been in a little earlier but the tractor was having a little trouble with the (insert chore of the day here). If I had just a little more horsepower I could spend more time helping you with your chores".

We must stick together on this issue unless we want to learn to enjoy driving a vacuum cleaner more that we enjoy driving our tractors.

Bill, Gotta admit, I didn't intend on being complicit in a well intentioned conspiracy when I mentioned my tractor power. That's one conspiracy though, I'm glad to associate with. I'm learning....

>If we admitted we had enough HP then...

Thus the reasoning behind my referring to my new L3830 (to be delivered later this week) as my new lawnmower!

congratulations!
i purchased one just like it this year but with backhoe and others attachments etc.
i love it, and you will also.
as for the entire family operating it, if you place rules on operating the tractor, there is one rule you should absolutely put in place: NEVER DISMOUNT THE TRACTOR ON THE LOADER LEVER SIDE!
if you do, one day you will find your self hanging from the lever, feet not touching anything (above the ground and below the deck) by your loose clothing watching the load in the front loader rise above your head. lucky for me i weighed enough to slowly bend the lever that allowed me to finally touch the ground.
so i always spend extra time dismounting opposite the lever regardless of the side where the effort on the ground is and every time i walk all the way around the tractor to get back on.............well just let me say i am so happy to be able to get back on again.
be careful!
