When I'm backing off of my trailer if I push in the clutch and put on the brakes at the same time the engine will quit running within five seconds. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Very annoying and somewhat unsafe. Anyway to disconnect the seat switch to kill this part of the system? If so, how.

On my L3400 I formed a simple bracket from a piece of aluminum and mounted it using the bolt that holds the seat switch. The bracket holds the switch lever down so it thinks the seat is always down. It can be removed in 10 seconds and required no modification to the tractor or wiring. You may be able to do the same on the L39.

I'm sure its a snap but if anyone else drives the tractor, you might think twice about it. Ho about a bypass switch that you know about?

Yea I'm it for this tractor. Sounds like jumping the switch wire would be the way to go. Is this engine kill design intended for the system? I can't figure out why Kubota would want the tractor to die if your stepping on the brake and clutch at the same time. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

If your saying that it stops when you hit the brake and clutch together while your sitting in the seat, I don't think the seat switch bypass will fix it.

This does not sound normal to me. Maybe other L39 owners can confirm this is true. Maybe yours has a problem in the circuit.

I've never had that happen with my L-39???? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

If you don't weigh much stepping on both lifts you off the seat and it dies, I zip tied mine down as I've never owned a tractor with a operator presence and find it extremely annoying.

The logic the wiring uses is if the tractor is in gear or moving (hst models) and seat switch not depressed it kills the engine. Or if the pto is running and the seat switch is not depressed it kills it too.

"Extremely annoying" dittos. The tie wrap is a great fix.

In my experience with things, the reliability is inversely proportional to the square of the number of sensors, switches, and connectors. But we Kubota owners are still lucky. We don't have to deal with the problems of eHydro and computer controlled engines and the lack of service people who understand them. I'm sure it is coming though. My 1910 has never had an electrical problem /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif It has one switch on the clutch.

I unplugged and jumped the two wires on the seat sensor. Works fine now. If I get this thing on it's side I will be hauling a"" /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif to get off and away from it.

A seat safety sensor is a good idea, but when it makes the tractor unsafe to back off of a trailer it is time for it to go! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Sounds like Slowzuki is right and your lifting off the seat a bit. I think the seat switch is more to protect you from being in gear or having the PTO running when you get off.

Glad your problem is solved. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
