L39 Stump Removal Pics

This was about a 90 foot laurel oak about six feet in diameter (the TL1000 FEL bucket is 72") that had been knocked over by Hurrican Frances last year about 35 feet up the trunk where in broke in half. Sawed off the trunk with a Stihl 046 Magnum with a 32" bar and removed the stump with the BT1000 BH with an 18" bucket.

The rootball was quite a significant piece and required digging down about 10 feet to break through all the root out croppings.

Getting the gigantic stump and rootball out of the hole was quite a major undertaking, but nothing the L39 could not handle... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

This stump was the ninth stump to be added to the burn pile, have quite a serious fire going now and through next week as the trunks have to burn pretty hot to consume all those stumps and rootballs.

That sure is a big hole! How long did it take to dig such a monster?

That's some stump! It makes the L39 look like a little guy. Must be nice digging in that sand. There are boulders the size of a volkswagen to deal with in some areas around here.

I have a massive old ash stump by the road that got taken down last fall. -Not looking forward to removing it and disturbing such a large area. What a mess it makes removing big stumps. Sometimes I think it's better to just leave them if they are located in an out of the way place.

I need a 12" bucket.....BTW, the KX excavator buckets will not work with the L39 quick attach. I checked one out, they are similar, but not the same.

L39 is a thing of beauty. I'm working on my grapple for the front loader bucket now. It'll be useful when Kubota finally installs the hydraulic kit that I'm paying for.

You might want to look into that again. I know the L48 can use some of the KX buckets, I would expect the L39 would use the same coupler... but I maybe wrong.

The L39TLB uses the K7770 Quick Coupler which is the same as the newer series KX excavators. The 12" trenching bucket that would fit the K7770 would be a K7872. Hope this helps.

So all the "-3's" will fit. 121-3's etc.

I think all the QA buckets for KX71-3 through the KX121-3 will fit the QA coupler on the L39TLB. Hope this helps.
