New to me L39. Where is the best place to use as tie down points for trailering?

Thanks!

Good luck. For a machine designed for a contractor, it certainly could stand to have 4 designated tie down points.

I usually run a chain through the loader tube and another through the backhoe subframe. Haven't lost it yet.

Here is how I do it on L3940. Take some of these ideas, look at your L39, and come up with plan. Philip.

Some good ideas here. I had the same question, and I was also looking for some tow points to mount on the front of my B3030 just in case. At TSC I stumbled on something called a "Cold Shut", the purpose of which I have no idea, but the 1/2 inch size is rated at 4700 lbs. They are inexpensive. See

I bought two, cold galvanized each and then painted them with Kubota grey, and mounted one on each side of the front frame with G70 bolts & washers. They look like factory to me. They also have worked great in only one towing so far. :)

Something else on that page has worked well for me. A shackle with clevis pin and clip.

There are holes for and aft on my little BX that an appropriately-sized one of those will fit. The shackle is nice and smooth for a strap to bear against.

Here's mine. Disregard the color.

For the back, welded a hoopie on the drawbar like Philip did sorta. Front's a shackle through an existing hole in the frame.

Here's a shot of my L39 on the trailer. I did not have a picture with it chained downed, so I drew yellow lines on the picture where I put the chains. One through the front brush guard, one through the backhoe at the lower pivot and one across the backhoe bucket. I typically put a tie down strap on the front bucket to keep it from bouncing.

I do the same as this except for the one over the backhoe bucket. I curl the bucket all the way up and put the chain through the linkage.

I also put a chain over the front loader arms.

I have an L4310:

I put a chain through the front loader tube (I have to use a steel stake to push it through) and a chain through a clevis that is pinned to the drawbar. I have discovered that it is best to chain down the machine, including cinching down the binders (I use the ratchet type) then drop the bucket and the hoe. My hoe has a swivel travel pin in it that works great. The front bucket travels almost tilted back and rests on the very rearward pads on the back of the bucket.

On our trucks we use several types of these type of clevis's to secure tractors. There are places on the front that take a small diamer pin and on the rear we use a twisted one to keep the straps right.

silves:

6 years ago, I faced the same issue. I decided to weld D-rings to the 4 corners as shown by the posted pictures. I though about straps looped around the rear axle & loader frame, but as a proponent of chains vs. straps, I decided on the D rings.

Front: welded to the lower grill guard
Rear: welded to the Back Hoe under the pivot cylinders
When the Back Hoe is off, I make a chain loop to the lower frame Back Hoe attachment hooks.

For the past 6 years, these have served as a dependable secure way to move my tractor.
I use 4- 3/8 x 10 grade 80 chains along with 4- 1/2" 9200 lb. test screw type chain binders. Some may think this is overkill, but I know that short of a catastrophic failure, my $40,000 tractor is staying on my trailer.

Good luck on your decision.
