Are you wearing a seat belt???
Obviously its your call. You are best to determine just how safe you are at operating your tractor. I have disabled many safety switches on equipment knowing at the time the risk I was taking but also understanding why the bloody thing was there in the first place. If having a safety switch was the end all be all way to avoid an accident, I think we would be pretty safe. There are still accidents and will always continue to be, perhaps its natures common sense approach to cleansing the gene pool, no matter how hard we try to circumvent it. I would question the way one might attempt to work around a safety switch that is to sensitive as a hazard itself. IE, placing your foot on the seat while leaning out over the steering wheel to see if your bucket is full. I will never allow my safety defeated tractor to be used by anyone else, except me, I understand and know the risks, if I did not I would never have survived the 70's and 80' and 90's. I use a risk assesment approach, a topic many here will argue with, but one that works for me, at least up until now....

How did all those farmers ever make it with the old non safety enhanced tractors? Common Sense I would suggest had a major role...

there's also a lot walking around with a limp. Ag is one of the most dangerous professions in the world. the stats prove it. its not usually the old farmers or there family which have the issues, they are used to this stuff and know what they are doing. it the newbie's. never had a tractor, dont realise that they are putting themselves in danger and there fore have no fear. very dangerous combination...:(

A lot of 'em didn't!!

Back to the topic at hand, I would start with looking for an adjustment mechanism. Look first. Check the owner's manual. Call the dealer.

I would question if AG is still considered a "dangerous" profession, at least as I know it to exist here in California. The farmers equipment is so big, much of it going to tracked tractors with fully enclosed cabs that the ability to even fall off anymore has been eliminated. I think driving on the freeway around here is far more dangerous then being a farmer, I think most farmers will agree. Nonetheless, I would not advocate defeating any safety device and that includes the 57 labels plastered on every tractor telling you not to stick your hands under the mower, sit on the PTO drive shaft, stand in the loader bucket while in operation, etc, etc. On the otherhand, a little chlorine in the gene pool may be just whats needed, just kidding... :D

falling off a tractor or rolling it is not the main issue any more (roll overs still happen a lot though. had 2 in my district this year. one was a tractor we sold. straight to court, we where found not to be liable. poor operator). its usually getting crushed when hooking up implements, entanglement in drive shafts, contact with over head wires, animal attacks etc etc.there is just so many ways to be hurt on a farm its scary.not many have much to do with safety switches any more. but after being pulled into court because a guy thought a tractor should go down a steep rough hill at 12MPH I aint taking any chances. if the machine had a fault or something like a by passed switch it may well have been very different for us i can tell you. not pleasant:(

Is this a new tractor, did this problem just start or has it been like that for awhile?

RaT, you have GOT to be kidding? Here in God's country, we have mostly farmers and many incidents. Wife's a nurse -- she sees a lot of missing limbs, crushed bones, mangled bits and those are the lucky ones. Last fall there was person crushed when a row of round bales shifted and fell. Guy I worked with had a bull kick him in the chest and crack most of his ribs. He was lucky he was close to the fence and could roll out before the bull stomped him to death. A month earlier he had missed with the band castrator and only got 1 ball, the bull didn't seem to appreciate him trying for the other one.

My Dr reminded me earlier this year, that the last 3 times i had come in for a visit were for farm related accidents.

( horse kicked - shoulder x ray )
( knocked over by pushy cow )
( removal of rooster spur broken off in my back about 1.5" deep )

That's ag related... So far my desk job has yet to injur me...

I wonder if carpal tunnel from posting on TBN counts as ag-related?

But for the grace of God go I.

Protect us fools dear Lord!

Hey ya'll, watch this!

My dealer removed the defeat swith I installed but left in the cupholder it for me to reinstall?? They never mentioned they did this.

I think there is a double meaning here.

Give your dealer a call. Kubota issued a repair kit for this problem. It consists of a pair of blocks which mount to the rear seat bottom rails, replacing the flat wear plates. This increases the angle of the seat forward. That in turn puts more pressure on the seat bottom, to minimize the problem.
My dealer installed this while my L-39 was at his shop for maintenance.
The kit # is 32781-9970-0. It is a simple 5 minute fix.

Good luck
