L3940 FEL lock lever ?

Was spreading some fill tonight and FEL up and down function became slower and slower and finally quit. Lever didn't feel right. No float position either. I quit and checked hydro fluid - OK, crawled under and checked linkage - nothing loose. Finally I worked the FEL lock lever back and forth and it freed right back up to normal. Lock must have worked itself slightly closed. Is it supposed to go down into the holes in the boot to lock open or shut? Mine is pretty stiff and doesn't go down. I guess I could lube it.

I have never used my fel lock and have never had it vibrate to the lock position. Philip.

On my L4240;the lock lever goes straight in(if I remember right).
