I can not decide on which one to get the L3940 is 22,900 and the L5240 is 27,800 they both come with rear remotes and the loader and the tires are loaded. I will be doing brush hogging and box blading and also some plowing and tilling, food plots trails etc.. We have a JD 855 now and it just does not do the work, I am scared that i will under buy on HP so I need some reassurance.

It might help fill in your profile and / or tell a bit more about your needs other than the JD can't get it done. I have done many of the tasks you mention with my BX.

I just got the L5240. The power is great,so is the cab! I traded a L 3010 GST and I realy never felt underpowered with that,of course I came out of a 185 DT so that seamed quire powerful. I love the turbo,I think that would be reason enough to go with the 5240. Good luck in your search !

If you are strictly comparing two Kubota models, you might get better feedback in the Kubota Buying/Pricing forum but if you want opinions on these tractors relative to your existing Deere, you're in the right place. Let me know if you want it moved.

As others have said, fill out your profile and give us some details on your needs - how much land etc. etc.

FWIW, both those models are very close in physical dimensions. As a result, I would spend the extra and get the L5240 any day of the week! It will consume a bit more fuel but then again you will get work done in less time. You will have the heft of a bigger loader.

I probably wouldn't think twice about it in this case. I think that the extra $5k or so is a bargain.

There's a pretty big difference between the two. The 5240 is a bit heavier, it is turbocharged and will take class 2 implement hookups. I have an L3830 and am quite satisified with it. $5000 will buy a few more implements...

Either animal will probably allow you to do the job. If you are planning to do alot of heavy bushhogging all the time, or want to pull a 10' disk, I would get the bigger animal.

Thanks for all for the reply, I have 66 acres that is pretty much red brush and small trees. The land is heavily rutted up from last time it was farmed. I would like to cut some brush down and put in food plots and trails. I also want to get the ruts out, I also have to make some drained ditches that i was just planning on plowing and loading and box blading the dirt out. Do you guys think those prices are decent enough thats with the 0% 42 months thing.
