Tractor Sizing L4150

Greetings
I have 13 acres of lowland. The ground is flat and ranges from firm to wet.
I hope to dig a ditch to drain the water more effectively. The land has not been worked for several (10+) years. The land is covered with 'quackgrass' that grows as high as 6' in the summer, small trees etc. It also has about 3 or 4 inches of dead material on the ground from the quackgrass.

I am looking at a Kubota L4150 with FEL, but no backhoe. I need if for bush hogging the weeds and then maintaining the pastures and cutting and harvesting hay. We will also be using to for snow removal, and normal farm activity.
Before I investigate any further my question is: Is this tractor too big for 13 acres? My other concern: Could this tractor be too heavy for the land?

Appreciate whatever direction you can give me.

That's an older model, but one with a good reputation for being well built and rugged. I wouldn't think it's too big or heavy, but that does depend a lot on how swampy your place is. Other than that, if it's in good condition, it ought to be a good workhorse for your needs.

We have 10 open acres and have had three tractors of that size and weight, an L4150 and two L5450's. I've never thought they were too heavy or too big for the land - including the wet spots. If your wet areas are so loose the tractor sinks in, a smaller tractor won't be much different there - and will be less capable elsewhere on the property.

Only you can decide about size. Everyone has their favorite tractor, sorta like their favorite hammer. I find the L4150 (and the other L3 five-cylinder models) to be the perfect all-around size for land maintenance. Another thing in their favor is high build-quality.

Any tractor can seem big - until it actually engages a crop or the earth. Then they all seem small. Dick B

OK Thanks for the input.
My greater fear is getting a tractor that is underpowered rather than overpowered . Seems a lot of tractors on Craigslist are from guys who bought a larger tractor and need to sell their small one.
I agree the jobs I don't see will often be bigger than the jobs I'm buying it for. If I'm going to be harvesting hay then this tractor seems to be the right size.

It is 4 wheel drive which is what I want. Seems that it might be worth researching further. I'll let you know.
