Kubota L4240
I've gotten quotes on these two new HST Kubotas, both with the LA854 loader, filled R-4 tires and the third hydraulic remote to the front loader. Price includes shipment to my placement of $300 from Colorado which allows me to avoid state sales tax.

The L4740 is quoted at $28,250 and the L4240 is $26,500, or a difference of $1,750.

How do these quotes compare to others' experiences? Which is the better buy? Insurance is not yet included.

Got a quote from my local Kubota dealer for a 4740 HST+, 4WD, 854 loader SD bucket, skid steer QA, grille guard, filled R-4's, for $25,700. Since then I've rethought my needs and have talked to him about a 4240 GST, 4WD, R-1's filled, LA854 loader, HD bucket, grille guard, rear remote and canopy for 23,500. Add in $1500 for a Landpride 6' RC for a total of $25,000. No tax for me as it's for ag work. Good luck.

I got it from the Kubota dealership in Dickson, TN. I've been looking for quite a long time for a tractor to use on my property, especially now that we're almost ready to break ground, and out of all the big 3 manufacturers dealers in this area, the one that seems to have the best prices and service, and general friendly atmosphere is the Kubota dealer. Heck he's the one who talked me out of the 4740, and said that the 3940 or 4240 would be better for my needs than the bigger tractor. I've been in twice, and both times he's brought me into the office to talk tractors for 20-30 minutes, knowing full well that I'm not going to buy that day, but will be in 3 to 6 months. i've visited the Deere dealer and the Case/NH dealer, both in Dickson, and the JD dealer, while friendly enough, doesn't seem to be real interested in selling tractors. They have very few in stock, and though I was looking at the 990 and the 4000 series, and asked for a quote, I never got one. I saw the sales guy this AM when I went to pick up a part for my JD 455, and he didn't even mention the fact that I had asked for a quote. The New Holland dealer is also nice enough, but more interested in big ag customers than smaller operations such as mine. So I think that a Kubota L4240 is in my future.

4240 HST+ is a nice machine. I got mine for roughly 28K with FEL and third valve on turf's.

R_Walter,
I just ordered a 4240 HST w/ LA 854 loader and R4 tires. In my price I also had a Bushhog 296 6' cutter and Bushhog MBX72 box blade. The driveout price was quoted at 26,525.00.
