I am looking at buying a L4300 with HST. I believe it has a
PTO hp of 29 or 27. Most 84" brands call for a min. of 30 HP
at PTO. How crucial is this. I will be mowing almost flat ground
all the time about 5 acres. And will be keeping it cut low once
every 7-10 days, bermuda grass. Do you guys think the L4300
will be enough HP with HST. If not what do you think i need.
even if its a different brand !
This Kubota web page lists all of their prior models. You'll find the L4300 under the Basic L Series, and it shows PTO HP to be 37.5. I'm sure it will handle a 7' RFM.
edit - Here are the complete specs, from a dealer's website.
Ok, let me try this again, Sorry, i did not have my info in
front of me at the time. I meant a L 3400 which list the
hp at 29.7 gross and 27.0 at PTO for HST models. with
that in mine, i refer back to my first questions, thanks.
I use 72" FM with L3130 HST, and the tractor doesn't know it is even there. I used to use 72" with 20 HP tractor no problems, I would think you could do it.
I pull a 72" with a B7610 at work, 24 hp engine 18 or 19 hp pto. I get along quite well at reasonable speeds 5mph or so on flat ground I'd have the power to go faster but it's a bit rough. On hills I do have to slow a bit but not unless it's real steep or I let the grass get excessively tall. I can't see a 28 pto hp tractor not pulling a 84" in the conditions you describe. Your looking at 10hp more and only 1 FT more mower. It should work.
