L4310..buy?

I need a favor from the Kubota forum! I have a buddy looking to buy a L4310 or L4610 with a FEL and hydrostat transmission, are there any good/bad/otherwise comments that I can forward to him? I would greatly appreciate it!

I just bought an L4310HST, Ag tires, FEL and 72" rotary cutter. I only have 10 hours on it so far but it is doing everything I want it to do. The HST came in handy when I was mowing over a small narrow stream. I could just back up over the stream, pull forward and over, back up etc., to mow both sides. I also looked at the 4610 but my dealer made me a much better deal on the 4310, said I would not even notice the horsepower difference. I got the package for $21,300 delivered.

I have a 1999 L4310 4WD HST with ~325 hours. No real problems that I did not cause myself. If money is not a big concern, and he is thinking of getting a 4:1 bucket some day, the extra lift of the L4610 will come in handy. A empty 4:1 bucket can weigh over 400lbs verses the standard bucket at ~200lbs. The L4610 also has a heavier front axle. Otherwise I would go with the L4310. Horsepower has never been a problem. If he is buying new, I recomend he spend a little more and get radial tires up front for better traction. He will probably never wear out a set of tires if he only uses the machine for occasional work.

I have owned my L4310 cab for a little over 2 years and 300 hours and it been a great tractor. But the parts are very expensive. Right after my two year warranty expire so did the tachometer at about $500 and the air conditioner compressor at $750 to $950 for the part alone depending on the dealer.
