Mark= I like the idea of your security switches to disable the electrics on the tractor. In your case though, I am not sure anyone could figure out how to drive your 4310. With all your extra switches, levers, gauges, ect. I would just soon take on the space suttle./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

MarkV - I think the main advantage my customizing so far has made from a theft prevention standpoint is that it would cost a thief so much to keep if from being conspicuously mine, that it wouldn't be worth it. He'd have to change all the wheels and tires immediately, for one thing. On the other hand, the enhancements make it more valuable, so that may almost be a trade-off.

I figure I can disable it in two different ways with the extra switches. One will tie into the existing safety switch wiring to prevent the engine from "turning over", and the other can keep the fuel shutoff solenoid deactivated so it won't start if they do get it to turn over. That way, they'd have to hot-wire it in two different places to get it started. I doubt too many people would go to that much trouble.

Rowski (and all) - If you know of a good mailorder source for that kind of thing that has a catalog and something less than list prices, I'd be very grateful.

JimBinMI - Well, anybody with a Blue machine (or no machine, however you choose to look at it), for starters... /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

There are times as you well know that cheapest isn't always the best way to go as far as electrical parts go. With that said some of the stuff from napa is very good product and some of the other product is junk. Look at marine switches cole herse and perkins better for the elements even if its under your cover.
You already have a wiring diagram drawn and wire sizes and colors I take it. Measure all your lenghs and make the loom out of the tractor if possible then pull it through all at once and just to be on the safe side leave a couple of extras for power feed in the loom from cover to dash---we all know how you love to add things. Just remember undersizing wire and or switch ratings will cause heat and where there is heat there is trouble.
Just my two cents
You said your going to use a switched relay off the battery that will be right after the auto reset circiutbreaker right?

Good ideas, Gordon. Yes, I'd planned on a breaker just before the relay, plus using a 6-circuit ATM fuse box to provide fuses for each separate circuit. It's hard to have too many fuses!

Yup your right on that one thats for sure as far as I'm concerned the more protection the better. You would be surprized how many times I see a supply cable unprotected for 10-40 feet before the panel---bet you will never guess what else I've seen. I'm a firm believer in fuse protection thats for sure.

As in, what does the term "electrical fire" mean to you?

As for wire sizes, I've always used the chart to pick the wire size that's correct, then gone up one size, just to be sure. Overkill, maybe, but I've never had a problem, either.

You know if you let the smoke out its no good when it comes to electrical./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
Going up a size in wire is also very smart if you do over time get a bad connection it will still be able to handle the increased amp load and if you want to add something in the future on that circiut you have the wire size to do it. Now the second part of that sentence will nullify the first part.
NO SCOTCHLOCKS!!!
What about a stereo to listen to Bach or Bethoven while pushin dirt. It keeps your production up.
