My L4310 HST has about 1500 hours. Sudden situation. Fastest speed forward is slower than a turtle (in any gear) Reverse is very fast and the pedal can jam. No obvious linkage issues (quick visual).
Plenty of hydraulic fluid.
Any feedback much appreciated.
My first thought is HST pedal travel. Is something jamming the linkage, perhaps underneath the tractor? On my Kubota it's the same pedal for both. Check the adjustments for forward and reverse. Beyond that I'm stumped.
From the symptoms its possible the HST regulator lever has slipped on its shaft. Attached pics show the lever hanging down - there's a pinch bolt holding it in position on the shaft. (pics from my L48 with same HST)
The neutral position for the lever is approximately vertical. It swings either forward or back about 30 degrees to move the machine one way or the other. It should travel each way the same amount. If it doesn't it could just be out of adjustment. (if its position or movement doesn't seem right, post back)
To adjust, with the machine in neutral, loosen the pinch bolt a bit so the lever can swing on the shaft. With engine off the shaft should center itself. Then, with the rest of the pedal linkage centered, re-tighten the pinch bolt and see if forward and reverse are now ok. Hope this helps, Dick B.
p.s. most HST acting-up is caused somewhere in the outside linkage. Many of the the high-precision parts inside accomplish both forward and reverse so if one direction still works it's a good sign. (there's a long story here about a case where reverse got weak on an HST of the same type as yours)
