1998 New Holland 1920
Well sadly, my father in law passed away a month ago. Great guy - Highly decorated B24 pilot and great grandpa to our 3 kids. His wife has no use for his tractor so we're wondering what it's worth. Here are the specs.

Northern California located
Kubota L4350DT (Year NA)
Serial # 61279
1915 hours
Shuttle Shift (I Think)
4 Wheel Drive
Purchased used 3 or 4 years ago in AZ.
Buhler Allied Loader # 295
Canopy with a fixable crack in it.
Brand Welding 3 Point Backhoe
Rear Hydraulics
Fuel tank filler cap partially crushed
Right front rim slightly bent around outer edge.
Rear tires good shape and filled, front tires showing some cracking.
Overall I'd rate it an 8. Run's strong.

Hope you can help us out and appreciate your input in advance.

Todd

Todd,
Sad news - sorry to hear of your family's loss - he sounds like the kind of guy we could use more of in the world these days.

His tractor is probably worth quite a lot. The L4350 is a jewel of a machine - one of the fabled L3's - the model series that gave Kubota its major advance in the US market. They started in the early '80s and continued thru the late '90s. These machines were built much heavier than today's models. Even the new Mxx40's are way less massive and rugged than the Lxx50's. The model line included L3750 and L4150 at first, the L4350 came later, as did the L4850 and L5450. For my money this was Kubota's finest hour. (I have a 5450) The L4350 was available with wet or dry clutch (wet better), Hydraulic or manual shuttle (hyd better).

In the northeast, this tractor and loader could bring $12k-$14k or even more. I'm not familiar with the Brand backhoe - but depending on size it may add $4k-$5k to the value. These are obviously guesses - but if a dealer had this machine everyone who sees it would know immediately that it is more substantial than many of today's tractors. If it looks decent it will bring a good price. Tractor nuts know about L3's - somebody will snap it up for fair money I'm sure - no need to sell it cheap. Take care, Dick B

Thank you Dick for the kind words. Sounds like one of Al's son's has asked Mom to hold onto the tractor so atleast one of them is smart ! ;-)

Yes, we could use more guy's like this today and sadly their generation are all passing away. We truly owe what we have today to this entire depression/WWII generation. I was fortunate to a: have married his youngest daughter, b:to have known Al and his wife and actually truly enjoyed the "in laws" and c:priveledged to have them come and live with us for the last 1 1/2 years.

From his family, 4 out of 4 sons served in WWII - Al in the Army Air corps as a B24 Co Pilot (DFC and Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters) , one did Sub duty in the Pacific, one was in one of the ships directly in front or behind the Arizona when it was struck at Pearl Harbor (his ship was also struck but re floated) and the last was on a carrier at Pearl that left a few days prior to 7 Dec 1941 to resupply Midway as they had anticipated a Japanese attack there. All four survived the war.

Truly a great generation.

Glad the machine may stay in the family - it would be nice if it came to be seen as another example of Al's good judgement. Thanks for reminding us of him and of his brothers and all the other guys we owe so much for what we have. Hope your holidays are as nice as he'd want them to be. DB

Hi Todd and of course Dick. Dick is right about this series of tractor. I routinely use a L4840 of 1992 vintage.

My Dad was a pilot of B-24's stationed out of Italy. While the chances of him knowing your father in law are slim, my Dad did live most of his life in California moving to the Sacramento area back in 1954-55 area when Aerojet moved out of Azusa to Rancho Cordova. I see your just out of Placerville, a really nice area I enjoy visiting.
