I am planning to purchase a box blade to keep up my landscaping. Is it a good idea to go wider with the box blade so you don't leave tire tracks? If so, how wide would the box blade have to be? I don't have the specs on the L4400 with industrial tires on the back. Thanks for your help!

I have a 7 foot Box Blade on my L4400HST and it is wider than the widest setting with the R1 Ag tires. The only problem I have is it will hook on trees while operating in the woods. I would think that a 6 footer would work well too.

Pretty much agree with dex3361 and run a 7 footer on our L5030.

I'm running a 6' box blade behind my L4400HST. It is about the same width as the rear tires, which is nice because I know I'm not going to hook anything while working. Same with my mower. Watching what goes on up front is distracting enough, much less worrying about the rear of the tractor. Making it simple keeps me out of trouble.

It looks like I may be buying a 6 footer because nobody in my area has a 7 footer. To order a 7 footer one company wants me to pay the freight which is substantial. They didn't even have one in the warehouse/distribution center (TSC). So, I think I will go with the 6 footer as I need it relatively soon and I don't think tire tracks will be that big a deal on farm soil with the industrial tires I have. Also, it seems like there is a big jump in price going from 6 to 7 feet. Right now I can only afford to King Cutter, but they look fairly decent, especially just for occasional use that won't be worked too hard. Thanks for your help!

I have a 6 footer for my L4400, it covers the width of the rear. I'd rather have an implement that is no wider than the rear of the tractor for fear of catching it on something. Exceptions would be a mower or something that is used in wide open spaces.

I haven't measured exactly but I'd say a 6' blade on my tractor is a couple inches wider on each side than my R4 tires set in the second from widest setting.
