Mike - Great recommendation. I have contacted Bill for a quote. I'll let you know how it turns out.
In terms of the implements you bought, did you get a box blade? If so have you tried it out and does it appear to be solid enough to handle the tasks? As you know there are different levels of quality with a tradeoff on performance and costs. Just trying to find the right balance point.
Also, could you share some impressions about the 18" trailer?
Thanks for your assistance!![]()
The implements I got were a 72" brush hog made by Kodiak and a 72" box blade with adjustable scarifiers made by Atlas. The Box blade is considered medium duty. Both appear to to be well made--plenty beefy. I haven't had the opportunity to give each any serious use yet. I will be working on my gravel driveway coming up, so I'll let you know how things go.
The trailer is also made by Kodiak. It handled everything well when I brought the tractor home from Quarles. Everything fit in its place and the load was well balanced. It towed straight and true behind my 04 Ford F350 diesel. The trailer is painted Kubota orange with white pin striping, which is a nice touch!
The only minus I could come up with on the trailer was the fact that it only has brakes on one axle (the rear axle); however braking was good with no undue struggling to stop. I use a Prodigy brake controller on my truck which also hauls my 31' 5th wheel. It's just a matter of making a quick adjustment to the controller setting for the type of load you're hauling.
I've thought about adding brakes to the front axle on the trailer, but have not researched the matter. Perhaps someone else out there can give some input on the brake situation.
Overall, I feel the tractor package offered by Quarles works for me. Most important, Bill treated me fairly and honestly. His service manager spent close to 4 hours with me going over all the details about the tractor and implements. I felt they really appreciated my business and did an outstanding job. Good luck and let me know if I can help. Mike.
