My L45 is ~72" wide. With all the snow we have been getting in the Northeast I have been looking for a snowblower. I'd like to go 72" to cover my tracks.
I run a 74" blower on a B7800 (22 PTO HP) with absolutely no power problem. The secret is the hydrostatic transmission. A 72 incher should be like child's play for your L45, in fact a little wider would be helpful in cornering and to keep loose snow falling down from the sides into your wheel tracks.
I have a Pronovost Puma-74 74" snow blower attached to my Bobcat CT335
(26.5 PTO hp) and it handles it with no problem. I just cleared my 475 foot
driveway (gravel) + 40 foot paved driveway near the house this morning,
and the snow was very heavy and wet (we had about 7 inches of heavy
snow followed by sleet and a bit of freezing rain). This was my first time
with heavy snow, and the Puma handled it with no problem.
I have an L45 with a Woods SB74 C blower (74") and it works great. I live in upstate NY and I have not seen a snowfall yet it does not handle with ease. I attach it to a quick hitch with a TNT so I can quickly switch to the 7' backblade for light snow. The TNT makes it easy to make quick adjustments to the angle of the blower so I can aviod digging into my gravel driveway if it is not frozen.
I run a 74" Farm King with my L39. It works well. I also use a hydraulic top link which is very handy for adjusting the blower to the various slopes in the driveway.
I run a 80" LuckNow rear mounted snow blower on a L4200 42HP, The only time the engine labors is when I pust it to fast in a large pile of snow, never stalled it. If I use it as it should be used,it works great.
Not to hijack the thread but I'm looking at a 74" land pride to spin it with a L3540. It's right at the edge with 30 PTO hp. I don't want to get a blower that won't cover my tracks. Does anyone know if it will work?

Recently purchased an older 72 inch Van Eyl snowblower to use on my L3450. (30 pto hp.)
I've only had the chance to use it the once but that was following a storm that dropped 8 inches of heavy wet snow . Tractor had no problem handling the sticky snow in 3rd gear low range / 4th gear low range didn't stall the tractor but did cause it to labor when the snow built up even with the top of the blower .
This happened on the first pass on a driveway some 400 feet long . On the second pass (widening the driveway) I was able to go back to 4th gear without issue as the overload snow simply spilled out the open side of the blower leaving a small windrow to be cleaned up.
You should be able to check Tractor Data (you can google it if you aren't familiar with it) for specs. on gear speed / travel speed for both your tractor and mine .
