L45 OR M59 WHAT TO BUY

   / L45 OR M59 WHAT TO BUY #11
About a year and half ago, I traded my L39 on a M59. They made me a very good deal with only 150 hours on it. I had heard the 45 was on its way but didn't consider it given the M59s' specs.

The M59 is a much more capable machine in our remote and rugged desert mountain back country. It has a good balance in HP and size for canyon ranch work versus a bigger TLB. Easier to haul off road on narrow switchbacks using a shorter equip trailer.

Don't get me wrong the L39 was an excellent machine but had shortcomings for what I was using it for.

Having to do it all over again, if the L39 or 45 machines had been available the M59 still would have been my choice.

Love my m59. I don't find it "big" and I basically use it on under 2 cleared acres.

It has a lot of advantages over a full sized backhoe, as I've posted here before. Basically, you can use it as an off road skidsteer, and I do that a lot. You can't do that with a full size backhoe. If you have consistent heavy duty digging, the full size is better no doubt. But for those of us who want a combo Tractor/skidsteer/backhoe, there is no replacement. It does all those jobs well.

Only conceivable issue to my mind is the cab. Isn't for me, but I could see that for some.
