First I am new to the forum so please go easy on me if I do all the wrong things.

I am wondering if there is a way to disable the auto leveling feature of my FEL.
It makes it very difficult to use my Curtis snowplow.
any info on this situation would be appreciated.:)
Thanks Shane

Does it say anything in your loader manual? It would seem to me, you should be able to disable it if you don't like it.

I have looked through it but I have not located anything about it.
I will read more in depth tonight.

Based on memory from when I looked at one a while ago, it is a mechanical linkage that goes to the loader valve. I would believe that you can just remove the linkage and put it aside for the winter. Without a parts break down for your tractor serial number, I can't say for certain. Have someone operate the loader while you observe the mechanism at the loader valve to tell for certain.

If it is the older L48, then no, you cannot. It is a pain that you cannot disable it. I disliked it because I could not get the correct attack angle on my bucket unless the bucket was on the ground. The moment I lowered the loader, my attack (dump) angle changed. I was tempted to remove the whole hydraulic assembly that adjusted the bucket cylinders. I think with proper guidance you could eliminate the whole auto level unit, something that I had little use for with my L48. It was a PITA.

It is a year model 2004. I cant say that I have seen a linkage to the valve, but I will look again. I myself prefer to auto level the bucket manually as well.

Hmm, the auto level valve on my 2005 L-39 is just below the joystick and you switch it either off or on.

Here are a few pics of the valves. 2 lines come from the control and go to the bottom valve where they "T" going to the tilt rams and the bottom valve.

Edit: I am guessing that the bottom valve IS the auto level valve, so, I wonder if there is a way to turn it off

I'm pretty sure that the "self leveling" on your 48 is done hydraulically and not with linkage, unfortunately, I think the only way to disable it would be to look into a new loader valve, which really isn't going to be cost effective. Most new machines are starting to add a disconnect for this feature, like on the 39, I know this isn't really the answer you were looking for, but maybe someone will chime in with a better one.

I believe the self leveling stopped after the third year or so, in production. I have the SG model, 2004, which is mechanical linkage. The dealer did offer to convert this to a hydraulic valve, which I declined..

It does appear that I could bypass it and cap it without much problem.
I think I will wait for my shop manual that I just ordered to get here unless anyone has other ideas.
Thanks everyone for your help so far.:)

Just talked to my dealer's service guy and he told me that there should be a screw/bolt on the valve that when turned all the way in should shut it off. So I will let all know soon.
