Re: L48 Loader Problems

Toy1
Just closed the deal saturday for a new L48 TLB, tractor will be delivered tomorrow. Was at the dealers tonight to check on tractor and the Kubota rep was there. This tractor has new loader valve installed and when you curl bucket down it lifts tractor front end off the ground easily.

Re: L48 Loader Problems

John, I got a new loader control valve, last month or so, the one on top not the hydraulic leveler. I have lots of bucket dump power now. Consider the issue done and over. Kubota has it figured out. The hydraulic leveler still works beautifully. I replaced it myself and it was a snap. Very well laid out setup with minimal fluid loss. I purchased my TL48 from Carvers and they have been superb. They air mailed the valve to me and waited for the return delivery of the old one. They do replace a part(s) in the new one, apparently a simple procedure. All in all, the loader is now performing excellent. I think even my cycle times are faster. I did my 100 hour oil change and put in Redline, a synthetic 15W40 oil. Estimate I now have about 700 yards of material moved with about that much more to go. Tags, my landscape rake made by Glenmac/Harley is phenominal. I need to get a picture posted. For the L 48, it is a fabulous combination, should work well with the JD's, you got that machine yet? Control of the rake is so good with hydrostatic transmission. Its an 8' rake which the L 48 handles with ease. This L48 is fantastic. Seems to be getting better if thats possible. Everything should be pretty well broken in. If I had the backhoe, I'd probably be even more estatic as I understand, it is pretty awesome. John, good luck with the valve. If you have some questions, ask, Rat...

Re: L48 Loader Problems

Is there a quick way to tell if I need this valve? I'm a newbie and don't have anything to compare the FEL operation to. I bought my L48 used and believe it is about a year old. I dropped a front wheel in a mudhole on Sunday and raised it with the bucket so I could get some wood under it.

Re: L48 Loader Problems

Oh yeah! The backhoe IS awesome. Even if you don't need to dig so deep, the 11' hoe has quite a reach and is very useful for reaching over these New Hampshire pebbles.

I haven't seen cycle time discussed WRT hoe's, but this one seem very fast to me. Let you make a bigger mess in less time. Guess I'll have to buy some fill "real soon now".

Re: L48 Loader Problems

When you are in the mud hole curl the bucket down, then lift the front wheels up with it. At this point you should be able to uncurl the bucket at the same time as you back up with the HST using the uncurl force to free your self.
If you read the back posts. The only time my L48 did this correctly was when the dealer had the hydraulic leveler removed.
Note when I first got my tractor, the loader hydraulics were so weak that I couldn't use the bucket to back drag with. It would uncurl as soon as I put a load on it. I have a new spool in the loader valve, a new distribution block, and the pressure set right at the upper limit. This helped but its still not on a par with my previous tractors.
If your tractor is still under warranty (1yr) I would have the dealer look at it so that if they release a new valve you are covered.
Other wise it's a great machine, hope you enjoy it.
John
Just saw the new posts guess I need to stop by the dealer tomorrow and request the new valve

"When you are in the mud hole curl the bucket down, then lift the front wheels up with it. Your using the bucket hydraulics to push yourself backwards as well as the wheel power if I understand you correctly

John, I can easily do this. Rat...

Re: L48 Loader Problems

Thanks,

I ran the test last evening and it seems just fine. I can lift the tractor with either the lift cylinders or by curling. I'll check with the previous owner to see if he had the new valve put in.

Re: L48 Loader Problems

Rat,
So very glad to see that Kubota has figured the problem out and has addressed it properly,I just hope they notify everybody who owns an L48,I'm sure there are owners out there that don't even realize the loader isn't performing at its best level,at least they are doin' something. As far as the 110,it is going to be shipped on the 25th of April, one week for shipping, one day to for dealer prep,so.......if all goes well(haha)I should be posting some first hand reports about it the first week of May......keep your fingers crossed!!
