Started my 2005 L5030HST, moved it about 20 yards and shut it down to fuel up. Went to restart it and first thing I noticed is that the intelli panel dash was dead, no lights were working. I went to checking fuses, all were good, when I would remove the dash fuse and put it back in I could hear some clicking for a bit and it would stop.
I figured battery, so I hooked it up to my truck. Dash is back on, go to start and I just get constant clicking. I could see the belt barely move a little, but wouldn't turn over completely.
I pulled the starter and hit the key and the starter gear moved out and spun nice and fast. I moved the jumper cables to the positive post on the starter and the ground to the frame to bypass the feed from the battery to the starter, same thing. I removed the battery and hooked up the jumpers to the battery cables to completely remove the battery from the system, with no changes.
Then I hooked the jumper cable pos to the starter motor input and grounded to the frame to turn the starter over (while installed), and you can hear the motor spin fast, but the gear would not engage doing it this way.
I also used a prybar to move the flywheel to make sure the engine was turning over freely and no issues there.
Starter is going in to get checked on Monday. Tractor only has about 350 hrs on it. I've read a bit about the key switch, but everything seems ok when the jumpers are hooked up.
The dash sometimes flickers and will go dead when not jumped which has me questioning what is really going on.
Anyone have any ideas?
