Loader L5460 FEL Hydraulic Very Slow - Problem Inconsistent

I was trying to suggest MrHarry's idea about the feedback linkage was worth checking out since it remains in place when the BH is installed. Having some malfunction in the 3 point hydraulics is a common - and usually easily fixed - issue behind sudden weak or slow hydraulic systems elsewhere on the tractor.

Wow! I never thought I could stump everyone on this forum and the dealer. I'm hoping they figure it out soon.
thanks for all your input.

Well my tractor is finally fixed. No thanks to the giant brains at the dealer. It came down to them not being able to replicate the problem more than once. I went down to the dealer only to find my tractor at about セ throttle after I started it. Nice. Good for the turbocharger. The tractor also was very low on fuel. They did promptly fill the tank.

I left the tractor there for them to finish troubleshooting. The next morning, I decided to look through the WSM, something I assumed they already did. Much to my surprise as I reviewed the hydraulic drawings I found that every symptom I had and described in detail to the dealer pointer to a bad hydraulic coupler. Turns out it is the one that dumps fluid back to the tractor sump with or without the backhoe hooked up.

徹nce you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth. (Sherlock Holmes)

I never heard of a coupler failing in this manner when properly connected. They did replace the coupler. It works better now than it ever did.
Since the tractor was returned to me, I致e discussed the issue with a maintenance supervisor of a local large equipment company. He told me that hydraulic couplers do fail in the manner as described but it is rare.
My main issue is, I was able to figure it out in 45 minutes, the experts at the dealer were stumped. I知 not a tractor hydraulic expert by far!

Hope this helps someone else.

I've tested and tested the FEL. So far so good. Looks like the problem really is fixed.

Glad to hear it is still working!

Same thing happened to my brand new L4060. Unloaded an impliment from the truck fine, then the loader stopped working reliably. Sometimes it would work, sometimes it would barely budge. You could hear the engine laboring.

My dealer sent out a guy who couldn't figure it out. They hauled it back & fixed it. Ended up being the feedback rod on the 3pt apparently. When I lifted up the 3pt it bottomed out but left the valve still trying to lift things. Recalibrating the feedback rod seems to have fixed it.

Although thinking about it now I'm a little confused. The loader valve is usually first & 3pt usually last in the power beyond loop. The upstream valve has priority & the downstream just gets starved. So that would explain the engine lugging, but not the loader not working. Wonder if the 3pt is plumbed in first, unlike most others. Would explain everything.

At any rate, lower the 3pt a bit & see if things clear up. Will identify the issue. The other common problem is a quick disconnect not being seated correctly, or plugged up. That usually just affects 1 function though.

The same thing happened to my L6060.

Apparently, this is a not uncommon issue.

There is a known manufacturing issue with a serial number range of L40 HST transmissions. The tolerance between the HST piston and bores are to tight and will seize in the bore. The slipper will get hammered against the swashplate when it gets tight in the bore and either pull the slipper completely off the piston or hammer the face as has happened to yours. I had this failure occur when my tractor was within the warranty period. Make sure your dealer installs the most current parts or this could happen again. I would ask your dealer to contact Kubota if they are not aware of this type of failure and proper repair solution. No problems with my HST since new parts were installed.
