Kubota L5460
Howdy All, new to this great site, what a helpful group of folks! I would like to introduce myself by asking for advice on a Grand L local to me. It was used in an apple orchard, 1600hrs, and has three rear remotes and no front remote. Looks like it needs tires, going to R4s.

My use scenario is road maintenance and heavy firewood production. Lifting IBC totes full of splits, a grapple load of timber, and load buckets full of granite gravel would be the heaviest loader applications.

Any input yall have would be appreciated! I cannot post links, but you can search Asheville craigslist for l5460 if you want to see the full details and lots of pictures.

Grand L's are nice for sure;R4 tires/rims going to be expensive. What does it have now?Turfs?

Can't figure out the missing characters in the URL...

The medium loader will barely lift 1,900lbs (IBC tote 3/4 full of water). I'm guessing this has the big loader. IBC totes of wood are noticeably lighter than water, so that's a non-issue. It will lift a heaped bucket of gravel as well.

You'll need new wheels as well as tires if you are switching tire types. R4s are a compromise, but I've been happy with mine on my L4060.

Rear hydraulics suck on the grands & have leak down issues. Not the end of the world but annoying.

5,000-10,000 hours of life in a CUT. So 10-20% of the way through its expected lifespan. Not bad if cared for. But if it was used commercially by multiple operators it could be a bit more wear & tear than a single careful operator.

I'm happy with my L4060HSTC, especially the 2 speed HST+. Not as happy with the crappy rear hydraulics.

Thanks for the input. It’s got worn out R4s on it now.

It has the LA1055, I guess that is the medium loader? It should be ok for a 1500lb firewood tote I would guess?

It has R4s on it now I believe. I know tires are expensive but the price on the tractor is pretty good. I’ll attach the full link after this post.

Bummer about the rear hydraulics. I can’t imagine I will need three sets either, so that’s a double bummer.

Thanks a bunch for the great input!

That looks great, the LA 1055 should be good for a ton. Kubota used to number their FELs by Kilo capacity.
And you can probably lift twice as much on the rear.
The tires don't look "worn out" too me - lot's of life left in them.
Don't worry about the hydraulics.
Worry more about posting a CL ad for a good tractor here and it getting snapped out from under you :)
now where did I put my checkbook ????

Nope, the LA1055 is the big loader for the Grands. You will have plenty of capacity for your stated needs (even with only the medium LA805).

That bucket looked oddly clean without any scratches. Could just mean they only pulled stuff with the tractor, or the bucket could have been replaced for some reason. Bucket may be brighter than the rest of the machine. My bucket is way faded compared to my tractor, mostly because it gets left outside while the tractor lives inside (usually with pallet forks on). The rest of the paint looks to be in good shape.

It looks to have the upgraded air ride seat that's a $1k option. The 3 rear remotes are about $4k in options.

Probably a $37k tractor new. $19k knowing it needs new tires & is possibly 20% used up in general isn't bad.

Does the OP foresee needing a mid PTO?

If so, this tractor does not come with the internal gear unless it was selected as an option during the initial build. Bottom line... Likely to require splitting to install mid PTO internal gear. (Cab models come with the internal gear installed)

Probably should factor in the cost of a complete service (filters, fluids, etc...) as part of the overall cost of ownership. I'm not saying to deduct this from the asking price, but something one needs to consider when purchasing as it can be in the $500+ range.

I'd also check for any error codes that might be present given this has full emissions.

I've had turfs, r4s and r1's. For your application, I highly recommend r1s.
