Tractor
2004 TC45DA with SuperSteer
Well, the wife and I decided to drive down to a dealership that is not in the area close to us because they had a L5740 in stock:D . We drove 70 miles to a very nice dealership. They had more orange Kubotas on the lot than I have seen anywhere. They even had the Granddady M125X on the lot with a loader. Boy that is a nice tractor. Anyhow, the wife and I both drove the little turbo L5740 and it had the loader on it already. All I can say is sweet!!!!!. Very quite and seemed like it would have lots of power to spare. I liked the auto throttle setup and stall guard. Cab was very roomy, and we aren't the smallest people in the world. I ran out the door so excited this morning that I forgot my camera.   I had called this am and they had just got it in. They had it parked up front wating for us when we got there.

Well, everything was going well. They were going to give me an apprasial for my tractor (TC45DA with supersteer, 17LA loader) by just sending in pics of it and the serial numbers. So I decided to get a price from them.

The specs are as follows:
R4 loaded tires.
AM/FM/CD
Loader with quick attack and woods 73" 4-n-1 bucket
3 remote valves with TNT
rear work lights
rear wiper
3rd function valve for the loader
Woods DS96 semi-mount rotary cutter with hydrualic height adjustment

They quoted me $47,310 for this setup. Are they blowing smoke or what?
He was very anxious for me to send in pics of my tractor to him today. He called before we got home and left a message thanking us for coming in. Should I proceed with this deal or run as fast as I can? This feels like a bad deal to me, but may be a good deal. I just don't know???

Sorry for the long post.

James

Well the HST, cab, and the Woods add up fast, and with the TNT it isn't an economy package by any means - but it still seems 10-15 percent high. Maybe you could call back and say you only need one cab, and they must be quoting two.:D

That is a bit high in my opinion. I think there's a few thousand dollars left in negotiation. Good luck!

First off I stink at the negotiation part so this is FWIW. Anyway, since your trading in maybe he gave you a high price on the quote and will give you a high price on the trade? Then again, maybe they won't.

Thanks Mr. Barlow. I appreciate that helpful info. I want any dealer to be able to keep his doors open and pay his overhead, workers, etc. I just felt it was a little high. I'll see what I can do in the negotiation process. I have a few other quotes that I'm waiting on. These other dealers are a little closer. All have been super nice when visiting and on the phone. This goes for these folks as well.
Thanks again,

James

So do I. I tend to say ok. Wife on the other hand dosen't give in as easily. I'm going to send him those pictures this weekend. We are in a revival meeting at our church this week. Maybe your right. Mabye it will be a great price for our trade? We'll see.

My local dealer has an M95S with loader on the lot with a price tag for $48,000. That's easily twice as much tractor for basically the same money. I realize you have an implement and a few extras in there but the price is mind blowing. You could get an M7040 cab for mid to upper $30's with 4wd and FEL, and have $10,000 left for implements. That price is just insane!

Yes sir, that's how I felt too. I know these little HST tractors seem to come at a premium price. I realize that I have a lot of extras priced with this tractor too. I guess well just have to wait and see what price they give me for my trade. I know it's a new series as well with a lot of changes and that may determine price in the short term as well.

However, If these other quotes are not what I consider a fair price. I'll just hold onto the TC45DA for a while. It's paid for and in great shape. Not like I just have to have a tractor today, but I would really like to have that cab.:( :D

The dealer may have deliberately quoted high so he could offer you near retail on the TC45 trade-in. To see where you stand with this, you need to follow through with the TC45 pictures and get the trade-in offer.

Unfortunately when trading in, you take a beating one way or the other. If the new one is bargain priced, you take a beating on the trade-in. If you get a great trade-in price, you take a beating on the new one. Best you can hope for when trading is to not take a beating on both.

Best approach $-wise is to sell the used tractor yourself and buy the new tractor on a clean deal. Lots simpler that way....that's why I like it.

Once you have an idea what it's worth, why not post the TC here or in one of your local equipment traders?
