L60 grand series block heater

I tried my L6060 today to make sure of what my lights were telling me. It was 3°. The glow plug indicator came on but also the red master alert light. It did start on the 4th compression stroke, as good or better than when hot - go figure. I confirmed with my dealer it is a glow plug malfunction. He sent a picture from his manual showing the problem is likely a failed glow plug relay. I got his email with the pic too late to search the relay. I’m hoping for a disconnected wire as the glow plugs have been used very little if at all. Different for my SVL75-2 on which the glow plug light is on for several seconds no matter what temperature.

I hope the OP remembered to order the internal gear for the mid PTO if a front blower is desired down the road.

I looked in the operators manual after reading your first post about the red master alert light, and it said something to the effect that something is wrong with the electronic control of the engine or transmission. Very non specific. I guess the shop manual gets more detailed. Did the master alert occur with or without pre heating with a block heater?

I always put on a block heater on every tractor. Get a good one - UL or similar agency approved type - to make sure it is isolated from the tractor electrics and you will have no problem.
Starts easier and it's got to be a reduction in cold engine wear.

Cabbed models which this one is come from the factory with internal, I was told anyway???

Thanks to all who've replied! I've decided to have the dealer install when assembling and crossing my fingers it doesn't give me any computer gliches!

I think you will be happy that you did have it installed. I just think it is so much easier on the engine. By the way, consider a Rear Pull Snowblower. It is much cheaper than a front mount blower, you still have use of your loader, and you still blow snow going forward.
