That's what I was originally gonna say but thought if using a grapple he might want a separate control. Of course in that situation you would still have to get out to hook up the grapple hoses so maybe it wouldn't matter.

Oh yeah, duh. That would probably be the way to go.

I've thought about doing that with an electric linear actuator. They run around $200 for one rated to 500lbs or so. Plus a few bucks for a switch, fuse & wire. Cheaper than a cylinder & valve.

It shouldn't get to much abuse unless you are spilling over the back of your bucket a lot.
