My dealer showed me both before I bought my MX. I have yet to feel like I made the wrong choice.

For a ROPS model, I'd have a slight preference for the MX.

Have you looked into the narrow series? The two orchards near me run the narrow series but they swear that they will never go below 90hp for sprayer applications. Obviously I have no experience on the sprayer side but they are nice tractors for pulling pick your own guests. Kubota Tractor Corporation - M5N-91 Narrow

I agree, second used tractor. And a gear drive would probably solve your sprayer issues vs HST (which I assume the MX has?)

Regarding the L6060 and MX5800 the l6060 has alot more bells and whistles, but keep in mind, that cost you alot more money, and equally important is it's about 200# heavier to drag up the hills which may negate the few hours more it claims

I agree with this. I have very hilly property and the HST tractors use up HP on hills.

Years ago, I had a B3200 that ultimately didn't have enough weight but never lacked HP. I traded that for an L3240. Awesome tractor, similar HP, but it suffered severely on hills.

I finally decided to go with the MX5800. I took delivery last Thursday and put 15 hours on it over the weekend. First and most important, I was able to spray my entire orchard without bogging down on the hills. It pulled the sprayer with 300 gallons of water with while running a 36" blower and a 20 gpm centrifical pump, and my sorry 200 pound a%# up my hills at 2-1/2 mph and maintaining 540 rpm on the pto. It my opinion it is significantly stronger than the MX5100.
Much to my surprise I ran 4 tank loads on one tank of fuel. I always had to refuel the 5100 for my last tank full. At first the seat felt comfortable but after about 3 hours not so much. But the seat is much better than the one on the 5100. The 5800 is much quieter. I got the R4 tires which I like better than the ag tires. This worked out very well, I now have the power I need in a compact size. I also got the hoe and loader.

Sorry, I don't do pictures. Although I will tell you it is solid Orange, and it's bad and beautiful. I am so happy because I kinda took a chance. I wasn't positive if would have enough power to run my airblast sprayer. But I really liked my 5100 a lot, and even though I ran out of power sometimes, I slowed down a little and got the job done. I just figured I was close enough that with nearly 8 more pto hp it should be enough to get me where I need to be. And I didn't have to sacrifice any maneuverability with a bigger frame tractor. The emission crap made me a bit nervous, but I carefully evaluated everything I read and decided to go for it. I think the MX series is such a great value that fits what I do perfectly. On a scale of 1 to 10 I rate it a 9.5 and I would give it a 10 if it had a more comfortable seat. But I will say the seat is an improvement over the 5 year old 5100. Again, I am very pleased with this new MX5800,

Maybe the next time I spray the orchard I will post a couple of pictures of this thing spraying going up the hill. If I can find some one brave, I mean dumb enough to take the pics in the eye of the storm. Although it will make a cool picture and give you a better idea of what this tractor can do. I got about 10 days to think about this idea!
