La210 FEL attachment

I just bought a new BX22 with mmm,loader,backhoe.At the loader control lever there is a spring loaded 'flap' that can lock the control lever from movement except for raising the bucket. I'm sure there is an obvious answer but what's this for? The manual doesn't address this part.

It's terrible to get old and have your memory fade./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif We discussed this topic a couple of years ago because my B2710 w/LA401 loader (and several other folks' Kubotas) had the same thing, but now I can't remember just when that was, or what the eventual outcome was. If I remember right (and there's a good chance I don't), you can actually move the lever just a little bit because that "flap" is mounted (hinged) in rubber, and it had something to do with using it when removing or re-installing the loader so you wouldn't move it too far too fast. And I think it might have been mentioned in the FEL manual, but not in the tractor manual. Anyway, I was just in the habit of turning that little "flap" down after I took the loader off and leaving it that was until I was ready to put the loader back on.

I don't own one and haven't looked at one very closely, but isn't that a lock so you don't accidently bump the joystick and drop your load or loader arms while you are in transport or, say, mowing?

If you notice, the only function you can perform with the "flap" down is raise the loader. It is a basic saftey lock to keep you from accidentally bumping the lever and dropping or dumping the loader. Of course you should never walk under the loader anyway (none of us have ever done that I'm sure /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif .

I think you and Pete are right, but I never wanted to use it when I had a load in the bucket. I always wanted to be able to drop that load to the ground in a hurry if something started going wrong./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
