Tractor
Kubota L3830 DT & B2710
I recently stripped the nut off the cylinder rod on my loader.
I got a new rod and nut and took it to a mechanic to replace the parts. When I picked up the tractor the mechanic showed me that the curl stops on the loader were not making contact - see pictures.
This has caused the sides of the cylinder rods to press into the top of the booms.
I sent pictures and explanation to the dealer. He said a Kubota rep is coming by this week and he will discuss with the rep.
Has anyone out there seen this happen before?
When you buy tractor, curl the bucket down all the way to make sure stops make contact.

I had the same thing when I bought a quick tach for my loader it was simple to weld in a half inch shim to allow the stop to contact before the cylinder rod contacted. KennyV.

The fix looks simple enough but this loader was delivered new this way and I've had the tractor for over 4 years (approx. 360 hrs) before I became aware of the problem. I have not modified anything on the loader. I can't see how the factory welded the stops in the wrong location on my loader and in the right location on all the others? I would think it would be an automated manufacturing process?
It has already cost me about $450 to replace one cylinder rod and the mechanic believes the other rod is bent. I've had a leaking cylinder - seal kit for one cylinder costs about $90 and Ronnie at Tractorsmart told me they are very difficult to install. There's no telling what else might be damaged.
Anyway, I hope Kubota will do me right on this deal.

$90 for a seal kit? Very difficult to install? I would find a new place to deal with.
As for your loader problem, you probably bent it when you ran over your kid's bike in the first picture.

My current loader (LA703a) has stops that work. It's reassuring to hear a big bang when dumping, because my previous loader (NH 16LA)had no stops at all. The only way you could remove stuck dirt was to dangle and wiggle the bucket, hoping it would fall out. :D

Kubota parts are sometimes outrageously high and I don't remember any closeout specials lately on Kubota parts. I order my parts from tractorsmart.com because they are usually priced lower than the nearest dealer and the parts are delivered to my door - tax free.

"...you probably bent it when you ran over your kid's bike ..." No doubt.

I looked at my LA723 and It had the stop located as yours is but it had an additional structure that extended the stop 1 1/2-2". Both sides the same. A manufacturing step was skipped. Ride the dealer and Kubota until they make you whole. Some body should have caught this before now.

Thanks Vernon!
You wouldn't have a picture would you?
That makes a lot more sense than the stops being in the wrong position.
I hope to hear from my dealer today. He's been a good guy to deal with so far. Will see how this pans out. It's been 4+ years but I only have about 370 hrs on the tractor and maybe 25% was loader work. I think they should get the stops right and replace the other rod and pay for the rod that broke - at the very least.
I really think they should give me new cylinders and rods. There are so many ways that damage and excess stresses could have occurred due to the manufacturer's error. These may not show up until next month or next year and none of it is cheap to fix. The groove in the boom is the least of my concerns.
I'll let y'all know how things pan out - good or bad.
BTW it's a Texas dealer.

If that loader was not a QA to start with and someone changed it over so it would be QA, then the stop will not be in the correct position. When I got my LA723 it was just a stander FEl. I soon bought the FEL part and the plate for the bucket. After getting everything together I soon found that I didn't have that "snap" action to allow cleaning out my bucket. I asked my dealer about it and he immediately produced a kit of weld on pieces to put the bucket stops where they had to be, and at no charge I might add.

I have to get a new set of batteries for my camera before I can take some pictures. Since we limit our trips into town that may be next week.

I will post when I do get pictures.
