I was backdragging today with loader bucket when bucket just fell off. On further investigation I noticed the clamping pins for the quick-attach 1/2" from the beveled edge were broken off. Has anybody else had or heard of this problem? Is this a weak spot with a quick-attach?

I have had a small problem with the Kubota bucket and the Quick Attach on my LA723. When I first hook up to the bucket it does not lie flat against the QA at the bottom so I cannot latch it. I found that I had to go to full roll back to get it latched. Perhaps something similar happened to you in the past so that it did not fully latch and broke the pins. I have not had this problem with other implements. They fit up just right.

Hope that you are still in warranty but replacing the pins should not be expensive just time consumming.

I have never had broken pins, but a few times the bucket was not resting all the way back and did not latch properly and the bucket came loose, but the pins did not break. Now I check to make sure everthing is lined up before trying to latch the bucket. Kevin

I had the same problem with my LA853 i was back bladeing and the bucket fell off , its a 4 in 1 bucket lucky i dident rip the hoses off , at first i thought it was a freak thing / this being my first tractor L4330 Hst with the loader & BH90
so i hooked the bucket up again same thing happened
after looking at the quick attach / i noticed the springs that keep the pins in tension must not have enough force to keep the beveled pin from camming out during back bladeing and other such moves which put force in that direction / I took off the nuts that hold the pin & spring added about nine 1/2 " washers to each side (the max that I could and still lock down the quick attach lever ) No problems after that however one of the beveled pins had a portion snaped off / I called my dealer told them of the problem they told me to try putting some washers in to compinsate for the weak spring , they sent me a new pin free / but had no permanint fix for this problem yet and had seen it on one other tractor / its not a big deal but you would think there would be some other set up for this potentially very dangerous flaw / if you were to have the bucket lifted high with the 4in 1 open and curled back the weight of the open bucket pulls back on the pins if they were to cam out the bucket would rollback off the quick attach down the loader arms and into my lap /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif thats why i have enough washers in there to elimate any kind of spring action on these pins while i am using the bucket / the problem is if i want to use the forks i have to take out a few washers / which changes the quick attach to slow attach

There is a service bulletin on this problem. I know of several other people who have had the same thing happen. Your dealer should be able to find out for you. Apparently the problem occurs with non kubota front attachments. Good luck, Tractorman

I wonder if a little judicious filing on the side of the slot toward the tractor letting the pins set deeper would help this situation. I noticed that they set deeper on the tree shear QA than the bucket.

I have done some back dragging but not much and have had no problems but I am working in sand.

A27h: My forks were too tight in my quick tach…

You got it Vernon, A couple minutes with a small stone on a die grinder and they fit snug like the rest. Reshape the lower slot NOT the pin…

I tried all my attachments, and set the cam action up for the loosest, and then relieved the others so there could never be a loose fit that could unlatch…
As you said, the 4n1 coming off and down the arms would ruin my day /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. As far as ripping the hoses off… I think with a sharp pull, the quick disconnects will unplug with no harm. KennyV.

I am in th4e house now but I do not see how the bucket coming off would pull hoses looses. I have a 4330 with la853 but I haven't used it much. By the way is it hard on the front axles to load this bucket. I leave my finishing mower on for extra rear weight but the rear wheels have floated just al ittle bit. teddy /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Thanks for the insight on the spring problem. I watched the bucket today to see what you were talking about. I noticed when I backdrag the pins do try to ride up and out of the lower brackets when under a load.
Thanks to you and all other posters for the advice.

My compliant is with the Kubota bucket. I always have to play with it to be able to latch it. It appears as if the angle of the saddle on the bucket and the angle of the matching upper edge of the quick attach are not the same so that when I initially engage the bucket, it hangs away from the face of the QA at the bottom. So much so the tips of the pins are nowhere near the slots. I have found that if I roll back my bucket sharply it will lay flat and I can latch it. I have even thought about a little of "if it won't go, get a bigger hammer" applied to the saddle.
