lack of inventory at local Kubota dealer

A local Kubota dealer said that there's a hold on new tractor orders for many of the new Tier-IV compliant tractors until after the fall Kubota dealer's meeting at the earliest. They say that performance and conformance problems with the new emissions packages have caused huge problems in the production pipeline.

They're not expecting to get any significant numbers of new tractors until November or December- they placed a huge order in June and are simply selling existing stock until it runs out.

Any one else heard anything like this as well?

If so, any specifics about what sort of issues and which models are affected?

I asked my dealer about new technical issues with the T IV tractors and he said he has heard nothing (and seen no bulletins) about any technical issues with the new tractors emission wise.

His guess is that what that other dealer is talking about is how Kubota got a huge crunch of pre dpf model orders which Kubota couldn't/wouldn't totally fill production wise so that they changed a bit of what was on the production line as well as even cancelling certain of the L (not grand L) orders.

So any dealer that did not have a big enough order in early enough will be waiting until Nov or December to get their L series tractors.

Plus Kubota is raising the dealer's cost on the L's so that it "eases the transition" price-wise into the later L's with the pdf. A bit sneaky but I guess they are in it to make profit.

Just his take on things, although it sounds pretty reasonable to me.

May be that people are expecting interest rates to go up, so they are buying/borrowing now with the lower rates.
We still don't know if the economy is going to continue creeping back up, or if it's edging into another catastrophic drop.
If you have a big ticket item that's going to need replacing within the next 3 years, now is probably a good time to replace it.

I've only heard that the B3350 was delayed with DPF problems, other than that things have been smooth sailing so far.

several models are shut off in the ordering system. The dealer meeting is in an month and its likely they've already started building some of the models that will be introduced.

Do you mean the models that were shut off are 'older' models and more new models are being introduced? ;)

dealer told me yesterday Kubota is telling him pretty much everything is very available and giving them extra incentives to order more tractors now.

So sounds like a temp crunch on the l3200, l3800 and l4600 due to demand spike because of lack of dpf and lower price. In part which K is solving with a price hike on the older tech as well.

M, did you hear any specifics about the dpf related issues with the B3350?

Latest word is my l5460 will be ready for delivery Monday. Bill

The local dealer here in Spokane, WA is very low on tractors and can not give any estimate on when the ones he has ordered will arrive. A month ago his lot was full, so its been a while since he's got any new ones.

I had lunch close to my Kubota dealer Friday and saw a cabbed L60 and M60 go out on delivery, sales remain pretty steady this late in the season.

I talked to local Kubota dealer a couple weeks ago. They didn't have much inventory for mowers since it is late in the season and they sell mostly in spring with some in the summer.. they try not to carry much inventory over. I didn't ask about tractors, but noticed they did not have a display at the fair this week like they have had in the past..
