I have the Louisville ladder clone, and it has been great. They have way more aluminum involved to be able to configure from short step to fully extended, so the weight feels closer to an old wooden one--using it all day shifting configurations oyur shoulders get a good workout. They hunger for hand skin--pinch and cut points abound between the slides and hinges, so you have to watch your hand placement. The rungs are narrow, and hard on the feet after a few hours. Its the swiss army knife of ladders--not as good as they stand-alone version of anything, but have enough to get a lot of jobs done, AND its all in one compact, albeit a bit heavy package. For a first ladder, a "don't know exactly where we're going" addition, or limited storage situation they're a really good choice. I do like that the tapered ends will "lock" into 24" OC when turned into position, and that you can set them up for irregular level surfaces (on stairs, going up and over a pool or tank wall) and they remain stable.

For those who have a Little Giant ladder for stairs, here are a few pics that show what I do. I use one end of my ladder as a scaffold and lay a board across the ladder steps and the stairs. I didn't see an exact picture like what I've done, but these give you some ideas.

And while looking for those pictures, I found a couple of pics that really make you wonder about some people out there!!!!

Eddie, The guy with the tractor was a TBN'er right. Scary stuff, makes you think that they never worked with a dad that they could learn how to do things from. Ed

I have a L.G. 15' model - ran up on a deal a few years ago on woot.com and bought 3 (One for me, one for my Dad, and one for my then F.I.L.)

I will echo every single negative thing said about them here.
They are heavy, bulky, awkward, at full extension it flexes more than a standard ladder, etc...

BUT until you can show me another way to store a 15' straight ladder inside my 12' shed (or better yet a 7' step ladder inside ANY compartment on my parents RV) - then I'm going to stick with my L.G.

If you have the space to store them AND you plan to work with them frequently then buy yourself some lighter single purpose ladders. If you throw a ladder every once in a blue moon and/or you don't have a lot of storage space - the L.G. is the swiss army knife of ladders.

One thought would be a 3-section extension ladder. I bought a 24' 3-section at HDep. It's definitely heavy but not unwieldy like the L.G.
