I was looking through the paper to find that an old High School buddy had died over the weekend. Acually we went back to grade school. He had a massive heart attack at the age of 43, way to young to die. All though we had went our seperate ways after High School and lost touch it was still hard to see him like that. It makes me sad that we had not kept in touch all these years and now it is too late. It was good to see his family and catch up on a few things and talk about the old days. He was the youngest of 7 kids and I was an only child so his brothers and sisters were like my brothers and sisters. Setting there today made me realize just how short life is and how we never know what tomorrow will bring.

Sorry for your loss. My good college buddy met the same fate at the same age last year.

I just found out one of my class of 59 classmates died about a year ago.
We've lost 39 members in the last 49 years.
Now you know where the 59 in my screen name comes from.

Sorry to hear about your classmate. I went through something similar last year while looking around at Find a Friend - High School Military College Class Reunions I haven't kept up with those I went to school with, and now I live almost 2,000 miles away from there. I was just going through that website when I found some old comments about an old girlfriend of mine passing away. It had been a few years earlier, but the shock of it was very strong. We'd gone our seperate ways a long time ago, but like all my old friends, I wished them well and always hoped that they all did well. She left behind two young girls and a husband. It's just terribly sad to realize that she's not around any more.

7 or 8 of my class mates went to the same grade school with me .
I know where most of the 7 or 8 are and 2 or 3 of them still live here in this area.
I've known these people for over 60 years.
That's a long time to know someone.

It's so true how we take for granted each day...You never know when the reaper will appear...Because of that, live life to its fullest...Condolences.

Same with me. In January 28th I found a military friend had passed a few years ago, and at best guess in his 30's and also guessing, cancer. Hadn't talked with him sense we had parted ways.
Wasn't expecting to loose my brother 2 weeks later.
Been a crappy year, 8 friends, family and acquaintances gone sense DEC 24 2007.

I had my 20 year HS reunion this year. I couldn't believe how many of my classmates had already passed away (17). We lost 3 in an accident on their senior trip. Sorry for your loss, Deere755.

It is hard when you loose a parent. It is harder when you loose a sibling as you realize your generation is also being called. Thank God I have no idea what to loose a child or grandchild is like.

I heard years ago you can not live until you are ready to die. So true. Make the decisions you need to face death and then you will have freedom.

There are times in our life where we're reminded of our own mortality.

Needless to say, sorry for your loss.

My front left tooth is black from a root canal done YEARS ago when I was a kid. I was suckered punched and the tooth came out.

The guy who punched me was laid to rest a couple years ago. He had a stroke at 43, in the ICU for a week, brain swelling and he died.

We became best friends over time. I moved going into high school and we lost touch. I "got out" of the area, and he got married. His daughter came back from Iraq just for his funeral. His (buddy) sister told my father, who relayed the funeral information to me. I sincerely regret never meeting his daughter, and telling her the stories of our fights and how we became best friends.

I see that darn tooth and I think of him.

"Inky" was his name.

Given time, I guess we'll all be in that same place where all those who have given us memories go to.

In late fall about 5 years ago an elderly neighbor woman called to ask my help getting her car started - dead battery. While I was hooking up the jumpers she said she was on her way to a friend's funeral. She remarked that one goes thru stages where your grandparents & your friends grandparents die, then a few years later your parents -aunts-uncles & those of your friends die, then a few years again and your brothers - sisters -classmates begin to die. She'd been to over 50 funerals that year.
At 59 years old I can't help but notice how many familiar names are beginning to show up in the obituaries, a classmate last week. 18 of my crewmates from my submarine are listed on eternal patrol.
I only advise everyone to make the best of each & every day - although some days seem to go on forever the number is limited. MikeD74T

Man, I hate hearing this stuff. I lost my dad last year and it definitely had an effect on me. Makes you think of your own mortality. I'm in that sudden death zone. Seems like 37-47 is the zone. Sudden heart attack hit people who believe they're too young to worry about health issues. I have two little ones, 4 years old and 10 months old. I know I have to take care of myself for them.
Alot of guys at work have been doing that bady scan test. A couple actually discovered heart issues that caused them to retire early. I'm scheduled for a regular retirement in a couple of years and plan to have the scan done next year.
Sorry to hear about everyone's losses, makes you appreciate the time we have.

I am 46, graduated HS in 1980. 10% of my high school class have already passed on. 15/150

Three of my buds, all 46, died this year. Crazy!

I have also heard of several suicides lately, all men from their 30's to late 40s. I think the 40's are a bench mark of sorts...some get there and want to continue the journey, others seem to think they have had enough and call it a career.

Off subject apologies, but try to apply for whole life insurance over age 40:eek:

I tried when I got married at 39 due to the new house and land payments. Almost fell over dead. Only ONE bad habbit I have is that I chew tabbaco. Still have to pay close to $500/year for term insurance to make sure the wife is taken care of if something happens to me.

Figure (hopefully) when the "term" insurance is paid off, and I'm still alive (hopefully), the house and land will be a worthwhile investment.
