We have Pergo laminate in our upstairs and it is very sensitive to humidity. We have to run a dehumidifier during spring and fall when neither the heat or air is running much. If it gets just slightly too humid, the pergo starts to "hump up" a little here and there. As soon as we get the humidity down a bit, the hump goes away. I think vinyl plank flooring would serve you better in a basement.
