Looks like Lance AKA ChuckE2009 is getting out of welding videos and is going farming. Bought a house a couple years ago. Has a Kubota tractor and says it cost him about 70K to get set up and he got the money from his welding video's. Looks like he made out like bandit with his video's and he never had any formal welder training. He got a lot of help from people like Shield Arc though. Never would have guessed he would have made out so good. Apparently he got a lot of negative comments but if he's making that kind money, who cares. LoL

Watched his video today... not sure it will be a fun to watch him now but wish him the best... he said he was following his passion. I thought the shop was it... but maybe he just wants to enjoy an comfy air conditioned cab in a new tractor!

I might be mistaken:confused2:, but I seem to remember Lance went to the Hobart welding school.

I liked to watch his welding videos occasionally but I don't think I'll watch him driving in circles mowing hay, kinda like NASCAR in slo-mo. I'd rather do the mowing than watch it. I hope he's successful though.

I thought he went to that welding school in Georgia that was at one time a sponsor (maybe still is). I know he said something about getting home from welding school in at least one of his videos and talked about some of his welding school experiences.

I haven't watched these latest farming/tractor videos though.

I have learned a lot from his videos since starting welding this last March, and his videos have also made my bank account smaller with some of the things I probably wouldn't have bought otherwise, kind of like this site.

Nah, farming is only an excuse, he only bought the tractor and implements so he would have something else to weld on.

OK. I'll admit it. I did watch his newest video this morning. He bought a well used bailer and it self destructed after a few hours.

I watch his welding videos and now his farming videos. He will learn after a while. Stuff happens.

My pastor's son-in-law about a month ago was going to bale hay on Sunday. Went to get the baler. Didn't get the first bale tied. The bearing on the knotter froze. When they put the baler up last year everything was greased up and ready to go. I'm still laughing about it. His grandfather would not hit a lick on Sunday. His dad does. Didn't get much done.

Youtube has cut their payments way down. He was making money off the views. He did go to welding school and got a pretty decent education at it.

I have heard from "everyone" that You-tube, has done all of the big "regulars" dirty. So my question is why did You-Tube who apparently had a near monopoly on this type of thing, decide after all these years to make life rough and drive off all the big draws? It doesn't make sense to me. Maybe I don't understand everything..?

I am in the entertainment business, currently making a fun series for Netflix (can't say yet what it is but I think most people will enjoy it on this website when it appears). Anyway, You Tube is becoming a TV Channel, Like Netflix and Hulu. They have a large studio in Los Angeles, and lots of Youtube stars are getting series orders. Its economics. Better for your business to control the creative.

Personally it seems like a failing proposition. We are probably at the end of Peak TV (A term used for what is going on right now with all of these great shows on tons of networks). Its expensive to make those shows and controlling that content in becoming more and more important.

Yup. My humble channel was paying about $180 a month and is now down to $45.00 a month. In other words, a year to get a Hero camera now.

Yeah, I forgot Lance went to the Hobart welding school. He's never worked for anyone as a welder though. I'm sure he learned a lot but not as much as you learn on the job. I found his video's long and drawn out but it looks like he made a ton of money off them. A bunch of us were hoping he'd get into a welding apprenticeship but he was turned off by 1 bad experience.

Actually a few minutes. Didn't even make it half way around the field.

I think that could have probably been avoided though. After the first 2 or 3 bales dropped he should have stopped to make sure the the knotter and knife was working correctly.

He was ok not the best welder by any means on youtube

I liked his videos for the most part, but then he got rid of the comments. I could see that he had his fill of posters saying shoulda done and coulda done. But then again, that is another way to 1) learn 2) build a network 3) make more revenue. Best of luck lone wolf.

You guys are missing it: who cares if Lance is a good or a bad welder. He is popular and likely influenced a zillion welder buyers. For his part, Lance had developed a YouTube channel that had become his primary source of income, and so Lance had focused his energies on making the most of that opportunity. Sort of like the rest of us focusing on whatever our careers are, or where (for you retired types).

Lance was far more instructive than a pile of people on YouTube, unless you're really that interested in the twenty-something-wet-behind-the-ears explain how we can get by on a tiny home in LA until life hits them across the face.

I digress.

I liked Lance the first time I saw him race a girl on a horse with a tractor. Good humor.
