I've looked at several of the land plane builds but I have one question. I can't tell by the photos what I need. I'm using the Gordon Gould build as a reference. I have 4 inch angle to mount the cutting blades I'm "borrowing" from my box blade. What is a good vertical angle to mount the cutters to? I can't tell if the angle mounts are welded with the open end flush with the bottom of the sides which would put the blades at 45 degrees or is that too much?

My Land Pride - LPGS - had two angle irons going side to side. These angles are welded to the side plates. The cutting blades are attached to the angle irons.

The angle irons are mounted so that the bend is straight up. This will then put the leading edge - where the blade is mounted - at a 45 degree angle.

Ah, Ha and Hot Damn. The one and only picture in my file shows this very well. Give me a second. I will resize and load the pic.

As you can see - the angle iron is actually welded to a plate that can be adjusted up/down on the side plate. Mine is adjusted so the cutting blades are one and a half inches below the big side plates.

Works just great this way. Never had a reason to change this.
